Tony Blairs 'deal in blood' With George Bush.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...sh-Iraq-war-forged-YEAR-invasion-started.html

If I had my way Tony Blair would be on trial in The Hague for war crimes, instead of jetting around the world giving lectures and earning millions in the process. But I think that it is only a matter of time before he ends up there anyway.
Shame on him!

Smoking gun emails reveal Blair's 'deal in blood' with George Bush over Iraq war was forged a YEAR before the invasion had even started

  • Leaked White House memo shows former Prime Minister's support for war at summit with U.S. President in 2002
  • Bombshell document shows Blair preparing to act as spin doctor for Bush, who was told 'the UK will follow our lead'
  • Publicly, Blair still claimed to be looking for diplomatic solution - in direct contrast to email revelations
  • New light was shed on Bush-Blair relations by material disclosed by Hillary Clinton at the order of the U.S. courts

All sewn up: Tony Blair and President George Bush at the infamous 2002 summit at Bush's ranch house in Crawford, Texas, where the two men spoke about invading Iraq

....was there ever any doubt?

Not to my way of thinking Jackie.
We must spare a thought for the over 100,000 poor souls who have lost their lives because of the Iraq war.
And the ones who are STILL dying out there as a consequence of what Blair and Bush did.

Now then.
What I want to know is this.

Libya.
Afghanistan.
Iraq.

Where the flipping heck ARE those weapons of mass destruction?

WOW Sea Breeze.
I hadn't realised the debate was going on in the USA to that extent.
That is a very interesting thread, but I do hope that you won't 'merge' this thread with that as things are moving on now...
Hopefully to the Hague for the both of them!

OMG! We agree on something having to do with politics!

I was hugely disappointed in Blair as I really liked him and thought he was a good PM. Then Iraq. He was Bush's poodle, just as he's been charged. As for Bush, I've never had anything good to say about him. Ever.

There is apparently still a substantial number of Americans who still think Iraq was responsible for 911, just as Bush kept trying to imply by always including 911, Al Qaeda and Iraq in the same speech.

Jackie, yes Jeb's statement that his brother kept us safe was such a crock of sh*t.

These comments do include Saddam's comments about how he invented the nuclear weapons but did not have any. He did have other WMD in the forms of gas and others.

An English General that totally dislikes G Bush said the extension of the Iraq war was legitimate after 10 years of Saddams defiance of the UN and the surrender terms.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1561891/Gen-Sir-Mike-Jackson-attacks-US-over-Iraq.html

Sir Mike says he satisfied himself on the legality of invading Iraq by careful study of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and concluded that action was "legitimate under international law without a 'second' resolution.
................................

The thought that the world was convinced that Iraq had WMD's was the result of Iraq's treatment of the UN inspectors and Saddam's lies about having WMD's.

FBI Interviews: Saddam Bluffed About WMD Out of Fear of Iran
In interviews with the FBI before his death, the former Iraqi dictator said he was more afraid of Iran than the U.S. and denounced Usama bin Laden as "a zealot."

And now the US is over their kissing the butts of Iran and trying to be their friends even as Iran keeps saying the US is evil and must be destroyed. Why should we do this? My comment added in - bobf.

Before he was hanged, Saddam Hussein told the FBI that he let the world believe Iraq had weapons of mass destruction because he didn't want his greatest enemy, Iran, to discover Iraq's weaknesses, according to newly released FBI interview notes.

The former Iraqi dictator, though, repeatedly contradicted the United States' case for war against his country, saying he had no connection to the "zealot" Usama bin Laden and never had any WMD's.

The detailed interviews, spanning February to June 2004, were obtained by the National Security Archive and posted on its Web site Wednesday.

In them, Hussein told FBI special agent George Piro that he viewed Iran and its "fanatic" mullahs as a bigger threat than the United States and thought, mistakenly, that his country could have "absorbed" another United States strike. He was less confident about a strike from Iran.

"Hussein viewed the other countries in the Middle East as weak and could not defend themselves or Iraq from a attack from Iran," the notes said. Hussein's biggest concern was that Iran would try to annex part of southern Iraq.

In a June 11, 2004, interview -- months after his December 2003 capture -- Piro wrote that Hussein said his concern about Iran was the "major factor" as to why he did not allow United Nations inspectors into his country.

"Hussein stated he was more concerned about Iran discovering Iraq's weaknesses and vulnerabilities than the repercussions of the United States for his refusal to allow U.N. inspectors back into Iraq," the notes said. "In his opinion, the U.N. inspectors would have directly identified to the Iranians where to inflict maximum damage to Iraq."

In a Feb. 13, 2004, interview, Hussein said his country destroyed its weapons, and suggested that another reason he blocked U.N. inspectors was because he was concerned they wanted all their expenses and accommodations paid for by Iraq.

"By God, if I had such weapons, I would have used them in the fight against the United States," he said, according to the FBI notes.

Hussein said the United States was "looking for a reason to do something," and that Iraqi leaders made decisions that gave the United States an "opening" for war.

After many years of watching Saddam continuing to kill even his own people it was time for some sort of intervention which apparently the UN was not willing to commit too after putting together the coalition set up to control Iraq. Officially there for over 10 years but no additional efforts asked for. Which says that the UN was not doing its job as they should have. This entire fiasco is much bigger than just the nations that took charge of the second invasion. There were such problems as the Sunni and Shia could arrange in addition to the Saddam problems. That entire part of the world is crazy and it is worse now as an ever larger group has arrived and is killing all that do not believe in their ideas of religion and how to believe it. Who is arming them? To them women are just trash and if they ever start in the US most women will be very concerned about their future. Comment added by bobf.

The non-governmental National Security Archive obtained the summaries through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Hussein was hanged in December 2006.

Blair has a brain. Bush does not.
