A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we went on the forest walk. There were four cars there but we didn’t run into any other people. The forest floor is covered with ferns..Some are deep green like they just came up in spring , while others were a

Every once in a while I almost step on a snake. Today was one of those days. Somehow my husband stops me. The snake then froze thinking it was in danger so I took a picture. It then slowly slithered away.

All throughout this forest are very cheeky squirrels. When we walk by what they consider their territory they let out this loud shriek. Every now and then I tempt them and will back up to look back up at them. You’d think they’d back up on the tree but many of them don’t. Many of them either stay put and keep on with their loud chatter or they start coming down the tree like I’m scared of them. 🤪Here’s one such squirrel. In the middle of his shrieking he stopping to de- shell some tid bit.IMG_1826.jpeg Here’s a picture of the trail and a picture of the landscape while driving here.

I love ferns, and those 2 photos are beautiful!
I'll take a longer slower look at the rest of that post, next time. Going to have some supper, now. 😊
I love ferns too.
I hope your supper was good. I just finished my second bowl of split pea soup with ham.
It’s my favourite soup.

Today we went to the provincial park. It was only 14 degrees but felt much warmer plus it was a sunny day. It was a perfect autumn day.

We walked along the nature trail that goes along the beach for a bit

We walked past 2 sitting benches.

The park closes for camping on October 20, 2025. We will still visit but might have to walk from the highway since they lock the main entranceway.

We like walking along this pathway cause we can take our dogs off their leash. If we see anyone we put them back on their leash. At the end of the trail was a man cleaning his camper whom we said hi to. He was from Newfoundland..This park attracts a lot of people from all over the world. We’ve met people from almost every province in Canada, people from the States, people from Germany.
Some people travel here by boat. It’s a small park but a well kept one.

Today we went on the Celtic Trail which is a pathway that goes along the Atlantic Ocean.
It is a lovely day today. The temperature is 18 degrees and it’s a very sunny day.

We came upon a snake again. I almost stepped on it but then looked down and saw it. Good thing I’m not scared of snakes.

Here’s the brackish pond . Usually there’s a bunch of ducks in there but there were none today. Maybe they have flown off to migrate.

Some type of berries which I’m unsure of.

A row of rustic cottages.

We only met one other person on this trail today and that was a man on a bicycle. He stopped and chatted to us for a while. He said it was a perfect autumn day which we agreed to. By the time we got back to the car there were a few other cars parked there. Maybe 4 or 5.

Anyway it was a fabulous walk. I hope you are doing well and have a lovely day.

Today we went site seeing. The leaves on the trees are rapidly changing so we wanted to spend some time looking at them. Plus we wanted to find the new cell towers that we can see from across the bay. Unfortunately we didn’t find them.

Here are some photos of the places we went.

Today we went on our forest walk. It was 16 degrees and sunny. We met two people dogs. One was a woman with a standard poodle and the other was a man with 2 well cared for miniature collies. The collies were very friendly. The standard poodle, not so much.

Our dogs were very happy with their walk today and so were we. We made up for yesterday’s lousy walk. Lol

26?? Wow you're North! Very pretty.

For sure. I much prefer cooler weather rather than really warm or hot weather. Today we drove to the Atlantic Coast Atv trail..We started walking there but decided that it was too hot ..It was 25 degrees , felt like 29 with no breeze. Our oldest dog is almost 12 years old. She gets overheated fairly easily. The last thing I wanted was for her to get heat stroke so we turned around and went to the coolest walk in the forest.

Today we went to the Atlantic Celtic ATV trail . It’s the trail we were going to take yesterday but didn’t. Today was 21 degrees and sunny/hazy all day with a lovely breeze. We met one other person on the trail today who thanked us for holding our dogs while she went by. Even though our dogs are by no means scary, some people are just fearful of any and every dog which they encounter. It’s exactly an hour walk and is just over 4 kilometres which means we don’t walk too fast.

Today we saw some wildlife. This cute little squirrel. He was up in the tree telling us off. lol. 😂 IMG_1865.jpeg
Then there was a hairy woodpecker telling us off as well.

These Muskoka style chairs set up for all seasons . Ready to sit and enjoy at anytime.
IMG_0906.jpeg
Then there are these chairs which look permanently put away.

IMG_0907.jpegThen there was this message that only got noticed today, which I really appreciated.
Some messages have a way of showing up right when we need them.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Today we went into Sydney so stopped at a couple of places. We went to the park to take them on a half walk. Then on the way back we stopped at a picnic area.

At the park we noticed a new tug boat.
IMG_0931.jpegIMG_0932.jpegIMG_0930.jpegIMG_0937.jpegIMG_0939.jpeg
On the way back home we saw a firewood display. These same people make a new display each year which is different from the last one. This display has a small home with a fishermen who catches 🦞 lobster.
There’s a sign welcoming people to take photos and take their time.

Love your photos once again Patty.

That is very similar to the way I would stack the firewood myself, back in my early 30's.🤩

But i wonder how they did that roof.
Unless perhaps they wrapped it in a wire mesh.?

Does that tug boat have a particular job to do in that locale, do you know?

Great photos, plus I like the way you tell the tales of your walks....😀
And the occasional captions, such as quotes from the wildlife. 🐿
😁

Thank you. I really appreciate you saying so.

I think they used a wood frame to put the stacks of wood on.

I don’t know that . I’ve never seen the boat before. Good question though.

Thank you. I really enjoy writing and adding photos of the walks we go on. My husband often helps me by pointing things out I may have missed.

Today we had to go to our doctors office to pick up a requisition so went into town on the forest walk. This time of year the trail is all covered in coloured pine needles, leaving the paths a golden colour.

Bench seats for when I get tired..Sometimes I actually use them.

I like how the sun shines through the trees. IMG_0945.jpeg
Today was a bit cool so we wore jackets.
It was 12 and part sunny , part shady.
On the way home I stopped to take these pictures.
An island ready to be explored.

This looks like a granddaughter out playing with her grandfather. They later started throwing stones in the water.
