Aussies will know who Peter Brock was, this is his memorial at Gidgegannup.
I was paid to go there, I turned up for work only to have my shift cancelled, I got 3 hours pay for my trouble and took the long way home.

Thanks. I've never figured out what a JPEG format is. I am so behind times with the digital age. I just kind of learn by trial and error and You Tube. Thank you for taking the time to tell me that though. I appreciate any suggestions people give me.

I find these kinds of WW1 photos fascinating -- if that’s the right word.

Not to take anything away from the photo, but to add a bit of context: apparently, it’s Beaumont-Hamel in France. If that’s true, it might show the Newfoundland Regiment, who were considered part of the British Army at the time (Brodie helmets) -- separate from the Canadians.

On one particular day, 801 men from the Newfoundland Regiment went into battle. Only 68 answered the roll call the next morning.

Google Maps link. Newfoundland Regiment Memorial, Beaumont-Hamel. The monument is of a bronze Newfoundland caribou looking over the trenches. Standing defiant and facing the enemy.
