Good suggestion!Can her doctor refer her to PT/OT?
They can try different devices and techniques with her and see what works best.

Kaila...what company did you go with for your husband's med alert button? My husband tried a couple but they didn't work in our walk-in basement. I was contemplating getting something for myself but something with a long range that works. I think the devices are wonderful for a person's safety as long as they work as advertised.Yes, i think that it's likely time for one of those devices for her.
I know nothing at all about the watches.
Perhaps they work better than the buttons.
My husband's med alert button is better than nothing, but disappointed me.
The much advertised (and extra cost)
fall sensor is extremely undependable.
However if he falls and is still able to press the button himself, then they answer.
It needs to be on the charger (and not on him) for at least several hours, daily. He would be safer if it could charge more quickly than that.
I have that one on my Youtube playlist...This is a good short video for someone like me who can't put weight on her knees, complete with indifferent dog. Yes I've fallen letting the dog out, too. I've scooted on my rear from the back door to the sofa to do this.
that sounds like a much better one, because those regular garden kneelers are very narrow //do you have a link to the new type ?I have 1 exactly like that one, too,
@hollydolly
It's a different one that I've recently seen. and was referring to in my post above.
I think there are lots of them with same names, atm, from what I've noticed.
The one i am now eyeing had a 3 inch thick, and about 10 or 12 inch deep cushion. Thicker and wider than the one you pictured.
And flat larger handles.
I notice that product description says it isn't for use on fiberglass tubs. Just something to be aware of.I installed a removable handle on the side of the bathtub:

I have that one had it for years now.... it folds flat, but it;s small and it's very lightweight...and only really useful in the garden tbh

You have reliable, safety devices. I have only one, ... 'grab-bar' side of bathtub on which I rely every nites before going to bed. I take both bath and shower that enables me sleep good. Because, in my twilight age, sleep is very important to me, not like in my younger age.When we had the master BR shower completely redone, the tile contractor(yes, a real craftsman!) mounted the shower grab bar with stainless steel screws directly into the wall studs beneath the tile. Also applied water proof epoxy around the screws. I mounted another grab bar just outside the shower.

I've been working on that for years, with limited results. In the past couple of years she has joined me at the gym for a seniors circuit class. She enjoys the social contact, and the exercises less so. In my view- she needs to have the physical strength and ability to get up from the floor. I am going to suggest to her to contact her(our) primary care doc to refer her to PT with the focus on excercises to help her be able to get up.Nathan maybe just see about getting her to do some strengthening exercises. They might not be as difficult as doing more cardio based stuff.
That would be excellent, regardless of whatever else you might purchase or modify in your home Nathan.I've been working on that for years, with limited results. She does like the Physical Therapist she's seen, that's a big plus as she has had the "white coat" phobia throughout her life.That would be excellent, regardless of whatever else you might purchase or modify in your home Nathan.
Plus, a good p.t. would also make the sessions, social and fun for her, at the same time as the treatment goals plan;
which could include balance, and getting down and up, walking on uneven floor or ground, and household activities.
Oh yes, I'm a regular Amazon shopper, was the very first thing I did: Aids for seniors to get up from the floorNathan, do a search on Amazon for a device to help your wife. They have all sorts of products there and I always go there to find products I need. I purchased bars for my bathroom and had a handy man install them for me. I'm 90 myself and my wife is 86.
