Superheroes Who Still Kick Butt In Their Old Age

"Ever since Spider-Man swung into action in Amazing Fantasy #15, superheroes who are senior citizens have been cast aside for younger heroes. Just like aging people in real life, superheroes don't have to give up doing what they love just because they pass 60. Whether it's a traditionally young character aged up, or a character that's always appeared as a senior citizen, these characters can still kick a lot of butt if they're given a chance." Superman retired, living in a crummy apartment looks out the window on 9/11 and sees the twin towers burning. He holds a beer in his hand and there are several beer bottles on the floor. They look like beer bottles anyway. I'm not sure what to make of the expression on his face. He doesn't look sad; I don't know what he's feeling. Anyone?
I'd say pensive, reflecting.

He wants to respond.....but he has had his wings clipped?

Resilience - A Superpower

"When you think Superhero, who comes to mind? Do you envision your heroes or favorite fictional characters straight from your childhood favorites? While each of us may conjure up a different specific character, they often share very similar traits of strength, moral quality, and their own storyline. Still, if you’re like many, a Marvel hero may be quick to come to mind. One thing that Marvel has encapsulated for many is the relatability and acutely human trials they face."

"Avengers Endgame is magical in a way that it doesn’t require you to watch the previous movies to understand and empathize with the natural human emotions and behavioral reactions felt and carried out by the team of Superheroes. Within the first 30 minutes of the movie, we’re gifted with seeing our hero’s as they are, allowing us to see them as actual people hurting in different ways, something that even in the Marvel Universe feels almost magical as we journey along the bumpy road of resilience." Look like he drinks Crow Root Beer or Soda Pop? (2008)

"More Superman news this week. The cover of the latest edition of Action Comics has stirred up a minor controversy on the DC Forums. Looks like the issue has been recalled because of its depiction of Clark Kent having a cold one with his old man."

"Evidently copies of the issue with the offending image were recalled as DC was afraid of the adverse effects it would have for kids to see big blue knocking back a cold one."

"Personally, I think it would be out of character for a character who frowned on Lois Lane smoking in the first Christopher Reeve movie to be shown drinking beer. Dc has countered with an alternate cover (seen here) which has been redrawn with a generic soda pop label. Maybe Supes was drinking root beer all along??"

The Last Days of Stan Lee

A heartbreaking tragedy about the (alleged) abuse of the Marvel Comics creator by those who swear they loved him

Lee and his wife Joanie arrive at the Hollywood Awards Gala on October 18, 2004.Mark Mainz/Getty Images
"Reports of his abuse had been slowly gathering since the death of his beloved wife, Joanie, in 2017. Strong-willed and outspoken, the British-born former model had run the Stan Lee family business with a firm hand. She had monitored her husband’s bank accounts and tracked his appearances more carefully than Lee himself ever cared to."

"She had also been more adept at managing their mercurial daughter, Joan Celia Lee, called J.C., which is likewise important to note, because J.C., 70, will become a player in this sad tale of (alleged) elder abuse."

"But in the spring of 2018, Joanie was gone, the shocking Comic Con video was being seen hundreds of thousands of times, and a welter of accusations suddenly spilled into the public arena: There was talk of millions looted from Lee’s bank accounts, his property scavenged, his physical condition deteriorating — in full view of his legion of fans."
