I have been to the Toronto spring training practices and games in Dunedin, Florida. They should spend some money and build a new stadium. Their training complex is really nice, modern and fairly close to the stadium.

Dodgers are favored to win the Series. I have no dog in this fight. The Dodgers wiped out my Phillies.

The starter, Blake Snell, had a good slider, but a pitcher can’t live on 1 pitch. Even Nolan Ryan knew that. I thought Snell looked sharp through 5 innings. I could see in the 6th inning that he started leaving his pitches up. The Dodgers’ bullpen was of no help.

Ohtani finally hit a HR in the 7th. I think he struck out his first 3 times at bat.

Let’s hope tonight that the real Dodgers show up.

I respectfully disagree.

I'm in a quandry. I became a die hard Dodger fan at the age of 4. But then they broke my heart by moving to LA when I was 10. I still have a bit of a soft spot for them but then I'm rooting for Canada in the trade war so it's a tough call for me.

I'm a loyal New York Yankees fan. I don't like the Blue Jays. But I hate the Dodgers. Lifelong Dodgers hater. Almost as much as I hate the Red Sox. So I will go with the lesser of 2 evils and root for the Blue Jays. I usually root for the AL team in the World series, unless it's Boston.

Lol! And as a Dodger fan I have always hated the Yankees. :ROFLMAO:

It all started in 1951 when I was 4 years old and we took a trip from Florida to New Jersey to visit my dad's family. It was in September and they had an early cold snap in New Jersey when we were up there. Having come from Florida we did not expect to encounter any cold weather in September. So my mother said to my dad "you have got to get him (meaning me) a jacket".

So my dad being a big baseball fan took me to a sporting goods store to get one. This was in North Jersey right accoss the Hudson from New York. And the store had jackets in little kids sizes like the warm up jackets that base ball players wear. And my dad asked me what kind of jacket I wanted. The choices were Yankees, Giants, and Dodgers, the three New York teams at that time. And the word "Dodgers" just caught my attention, so that's what I picked. From that moment on I was a Dodger fan.

I am no Yankees fan, but I do like their tradition of producing some of the best players in baseball. I have been to Yankee Stadium on a number of occasions and visited Monument Park inside the stadium. I haven’t been to the new stadium yet, but it’s on my bucket list.
I have been a Phillies fan since childhood, so the Dodgers were not on my list of favorite teams, but when Koufax, Drysdale, Roseboro and Wills played, I had to go to those games. I admired all of the best players, even when Valenzuela pitched. He had a nasty screwball that made him almost un-hittable for a few years.

We may not like certain teams, but we can’t exclude the players that were the stars back then. I met a lot of the old timers at different card shows, even though I didn’t trade or buy/sell cards. I remember meeting Warren Spahn from the Braves. He had to be an alcoholic. He drank through the whole show. They all had some great stories to share.

I'm first and foremost a baseball fan. Love the game, from Little League to HS to college to pro. Also women's softball.

I grew up going to Yankee & Shea stadium. When we moved to Los Angeles, my Brooklyn-born father was thrilled to be able to again root for "dem bums." In the late 80s/early 90s, DH & I shared Dodger season tix with two other families (like $12.50/seat - those were the days, my friends), so our children are likewise baseball and Dodger fans.

On the other hand, one of my sisters moved to the greater Toronto area in 1968. I fell in love with that city when I first visited her in 1971, and its spell has only increased over the years. I'm very pro-Canada, think highly of our neighbor to the north, and am mortified by recent events. 'nuff said on that score.

So all that said, sure, I'd love to see the Dodgers win again. I'd also be delighted to see a Canadian win - sort of a Jesse Owens moment. Mostly I'm hoping for some good baseball.

As long as the detestable cheating Astros or Red Sox aren't in the series, and the series isn't a blowout, I'm usually ok with whoever wins.

I literally grew up going to Yankee Stadium with my dad. He began taking me when I was about 3 yrs old. He was a patient Yankee fan, and some of the players were his clients. So, I did meet a few in my lifetime. Dad explained the game of baseball to me thoroughly. When I was about 9 or 10 some friends took me with them to Ebbets field and I became a long time Dodgers fan. My father thought I was nuts. When the Dodgers defected to the left coast, that was the end of that love affair.

Voilà, the Mets were born and from that day forth, I have been a loyal Mets fan. Why you may ask after what happened this year? Ah well, they are the Mets, is all I can say.

So, here we are World Series time with the hated Dodgers vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Never would I root for the American League team unless the Yankees were in it. I grew up with them, and they are a home team, after all. But, this year, I am going for Toronto to pound the living daylights out of the Dodgers and hopefully on their home turf. It's a long time to hold a grudge, but, I had just come home from France, looking forward to going to a Dodgers game, and the "Bums" had taken off.

Who could blame me after that betrayal? Go Blue Jays.

The Dodger’s bats finally showed up last night. Yamamoto pitched a beautiful game mixing up his pitches. I noticed his fastball had good movement. Maybe he also throws a cutter. He threw a lot of first pitch strikes right down the middle, but very few Blue Jays were swinging on the first pitch.

Going back to LA at 1-1 gives the Dodgers an edge with being at home. Glasnow and Ohtani are the pitchers for games 3 & 4. If Toronto loses against Glasnow, this series may end in 5 games. I hope not. If the games go back to Toronto, you can bet Yamamoto will be back on the mound.

My sentiments exactly!

OMG. It’s 11:30 PDT and I’m so ready for this game to wrap up. It’s going into the 18th. I can’t imagine being those folks who have to drive home from the stadium. The announcers said their throats were hurting a few innings ago.

Never thought about this before for games that go really late and they’re playing again the next day. Where do the home team players stay? Everybody is exhausted.

Shohei Ohtani, the US$700 million baseballer creates history.
LA Dodgers Ohtani is the first player since 1906 to be deliberately "walked" 4 at bats in a row.
With his four hits and five walks, he became the first player in World Series history to reach base nine times in one game.
My take on this is that The Blue Jays were pathetic. Not allowing Ohtani to hit runs is akin to cheating.
No more need be said.
It is the same as Football players "taking a dive"

Last night’s game lasted until almost 3 a.m. on the east coast. My butt is dragging this morning. Yeah, I watched all 18 innings.

Both teams made mistakes and Toronto had a few cheap hits that they were able to turn into runs. The play at home where Guerrero slid into home was lucky for the Jays. Had the throw from right field been online, he would have been out easily and the game wouldn’t have lasted 18 innings. Just like 911, I stayed awake for the whole game.

I think both teams emptied their bullpens. The Jays did the right thing intentionally walking Ohtani 3 times. Ohtani showed he’s not a smart
baserunner being called out at second. He slid into second and did a pop-up slide when he should have stayed on the ground. Had he stayed on the ground, he would have been safe and would have scored off the hits that followed. A pop-up slide is used if there is a runner behind you and in case of an overthrow, you can advance. When no one is behind you, you slide on the ground and stay down.

The game was not well played on the bases or defensively. Overall, the pitching was good to very good. The Jays are in a tough situation now. They must win one of the next two games before returning home to Toronto. If they lose the next two, the series is over.

Tonight, we have Bieber against Ohtani. Ohtani has a good fastball and if he gets ahead of the hitter, he likes to throw the sweeper to go for the strikeout. If I were a Jays hitter, I would be ready to swing at the first pitch. Bieber is also a fastball pitcher and uses his cutter as his strikeout pitch. This should be a good matchup, but the Dodgers can’t make the mistakes tonight like they did last night.
