Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good morning, @Kaila and all. Bit of a rainy day but still quite mild at 57F..yes, even though the UK has been using Celsius for decades, I am still on fahrenheit. I think I'm a bit of a dinosaur as I also work in feet and inches rather than centimetres. i just can't visualise something if I'm told it's x number of centimetres. Am I bothered.....No. 😃

Going to have a quick play in word games before Rocco arrives then we'll go for a short walk. He won't want to go far in the rain, even though is not heavy, plus my friend is coming round mid morning for a coffee and catch up.

Have a good day everyone. 💐
We love that you're a dinosaur, by your own identification, Pam. 🤩☺️😁😄🥰

Hope you enjoyed your friend's visit. 😀

Good morning, Kaila & Friends. Once again I've not been online much... still dealing with having no heat and it's wearing me down fast. The house was 58 overnight and it will take long for the space heaters to start doing anything. One of the things was supposed to finally be done today but the worker doing it has the flu, I've been informed. Getting harder to keep positive. BUT I shall. (y)

Very sorry for the delays, in something that is as needed for comfort and security and good mood, as heat, Kate.🙁

I surely hope it gets fixed very soon.!💗

Thank you for the blanket and coffee, @Medusa ! I had an update a while ago that the heating contractor is now in the hospital with pneumonia and I seriously don't know what to do. And it's snowing. When it happens that things feel overwhelming, I sometimes shut down emotionally and feel that starting to happen, sooooo, if I'm quiet for a little while, it won't be for long. Love you guys and gals, and I'll be back to bug y'all just as soon as I can focus again. :giggle:
Oh gosh, I just read this next update of yours.
That must surely feel very discouraging.
We're thinking of you!😕💗💗

@CallMeKate ….. sorry to read that you have no heat and that your heating technician has pneumonia. That’s not good. I hope you get heating soon. Try not to let it get you down. I know that it’s easier said than done.
I’ll send positive vibrations your way.

@Pam …. @Kaila …. We have had rain for the last few days also and our dogs don’t like going out in the rain for a walk either, even with raincoats on. Their raincoats are so darn cute too.

@Medusa ….Does your boyfriend ever visit you?
If it’s too personal a question, I apologize.

Anyway, I’m just sitting down watching tv with my husband.

Take care everyone.

Good morning, @Kaila everyone.

Thinking of you @CallMeKate and fully understand when you say you shut down emotionally, as that's exactly what I do. Sincerely hope you won't be away from us for too long. 🤗

Had a lovely morning with my friend yesterday, we first met about 30 years ago when we did the same childcare course...that time has gone by so quickly!! She's quite a bit younger than me, nearer to my sons ages than mine but that's never mattered.

Forecast is for heavy rain later so Rocco and I have already been out while it's still dry. He's had his breakfast and is now fast asleep so I think I'll get my cross stitch out while he is. If I get it out when he's awake, you can bet your bottom dollar he'd want to sit on my knee. ;)

Good Morning, Kaila and Friends. 🤗:coffee:🍁

I haven't slept well, again, but I'm taking steps to fix that so I'm not going to complain about it. Well, cept for just there, mentioning it.

@Kaila, hope you're feeling good today.

@PeppermintPatty, perfectly fine to ask. :) We have not visited each other and, while there has been talk of his coming here, there has been much more talk, and it is far more likely that, if we do visit in person, he will host me England. That makes more sense and would work out better. Having written that, I couldn't say definitely whether I will do that in future. From here, the odds are just as likely, either way. It's been an ongoing question over the years. I don't know; I'm so happy with things as they are. ---LOL You've got me thinking about it again.

--- My Lucius hates the rain too. Poor guy; he can't wait to get back to the house.

@Pam, glad you had a nice visit. :) I used to cross stitch and would love to see a picture when you're finished with this one, if you have the time and feel like it.

Wishing everyone here woke hale and hearty this morning.

Dear Kaila and friends,
Happy Wednesday.
I hope you are all well and doing good.

Today it isn’t raining. Yayyyyy!
Tomorrow there’s an 80% chance of rain.
It’s funny how we need it so much yet don’t really want to see it . Even our dogs won’t eat if they know it’s raining . That way there’s less chance of them needing to go. The good news is that everyone’s wells are topped up.

We are in need of a new snow blower
My husband is actually looking at second hand ones. The trouble is you don’t know if you are getting somebody else’s problems or not..I’d prefer to get a brand new one. Luckily we have an atv with a blade. Unfortunately it can’t be used to go around the house cause the tires ruin the grass.

@Medusa… Wow! England. That sounds very exciting. I hope everything works out for you. Wil you let us know if you go there? I’m excited for you.

@Pam … Your dog sounds as spoiled as mine. As soon as I sit down I’m instantly a seat for them to sit on. They also expect my hands to be free for petting. Luckily now they are sleeping in their doggie beds which are on the floor.

Anyway I must get ready for our walk.
I wish you a beautiful Wednesday.

@Medusa - yes, I w ill post a picture once it's finished... just don't hold your breath, it may be some time. 😆 It;s a William Morris one, called The Strawberry Thief.

@PeppermintPatty - yes, your dogs sound very much like Rocco. I look after him 5 days a week when mum and dad are at work and he's been a godsend really. As I live alone, he really is good company even if I can't read a book or do my cross stitch when he's awake. 😉

Hello To all of you, on this Wednesday early evening, 🤗

I enjoyed every update that each of you posted. Very much! 🤩🥰🙂

I felt very poorly yesterday, and continued to take extra care today, and didn't want to go out, for anything.
And I didn't.

I'm using all the strength i have, to attempt to recuperate, this mid week.

I'm feeling a bit better thankfully. Whew.

Saw lots of fun wild birds, at the feeder outside our window, today.
I thought of each one of you and your interesting posts, today.
Thanks for being here.
☺️🥳🫂

🤗 Glad you're feeling a bit better.

It was very wise to take it extra easy today, Kaila.

I enjoy your reports about the birds and the feeder. Our city, maybe it’s the province, doesn’t permit bird feeders because of the spread of avian flu. People really follow this rule. In the summer we have lots of birds. Soon our eagles should be back. They spend the afternoon perched in a tall tree that I can see from my kitchen window.

Wow! I looked it up and it's beautiful and seems very intricate! :)

Yes.... and it definitely won't be finished by Christmas. 😆 It's for my eldest son, a big fan of William Morris. I had intended to do some work on it yesterday after Rocco had gone home but my grandson came round as he's on his days off then eldest granddaughter called round en route to a talk about pulsars. She is very much into phsyics, especially astro physics.

I don't think I'll get a lot done today either. Hairdresser coming to cut my hair mid morning, also due a parcel delivery then grandson is coming round again in the afternoon after his driving lesson.

But, that's fine. I'm very fortunate that my grandkids live nearby and still want to see me. :)

@Kaila Sorry you had such a bad day but good to hear that there has been an improvement. Here's hoping that today there'll be more improvement for you. 🥕 Lovely that you can see all the birds etc. I love bird watching when I get the chance butI have to go to the park or the nature reserve to see a variety. Looking out of my window all I see are herring gulls, pigeons and starlings. 😆

@Kaila .. wishing you better days ahead. All any of us can do, is, take one step at a time. Yeah, I've said it before, and will probably say it again - but, it's true - and, it works!

So, have a good day, everyone! Today, we are taking a country drive with daughter and her pooch, Abbi. I get to hold Abbi in my arms in the back-seat, so she could put her head out the window.

@CallMeKate

Would you consider a temporary alternative means of heat? There is a small, portable, propane fueled heater, Mr. Heater Buddy, that is approved for indoor use so no carbon monoxide risk if used properly. I have one that I used in my camper and have kept it for backup in my house, just in case. It is small and one wouldn't think it would do much, but it puts out a lot of heat.

Not too expensive; Amazon offers it for about $90.00. WalMart sells them, too. The propane bottles are available everywhere.

There are other brands which also work well but they are much more expensive.

A hotel is definitely something I'm considering, Kaila and @Jules . It's a little warmer today... mid 40s and may be 59 on Sunday, so better. If it dips below 40 again before they get it done, though, that will be the plan.
They still don't have your heat fixed? You poor thing! I sure hope they get you fixed up soon. ~Warm hugs~
