That's the name of it. I couldn't remember the name. I think most of us baby boomers learned to read by that book. I have no idea what they're reading now..probably something more sophisticated.

I recall, at age 10, being the only child allowed to select books in the 'Adult' section of our small local library.

My grandma took me to the library right after she got me, and I have always been grateful she didn't put any restrictions on what I could read.I read all sorts of books. I remember reading all the Nancy Drew mysteries in the 3rd grade, I was shocked when my friends in high school were reading them.I was reading pretty much anything I could get my hands on, thank goodness for the library because we were poor. After I was married my DH loved reading too, then after the kids came along I would read to them, then I became aware of Mark Twain, Loved all the ones I could get my hands on.

In my very early childhood it would have been "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Little Black Sambo", and Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book".

Ah yes, the Jungle Book, also read "Romances of the Wild" by Kiping. Very sad stories in there, but fascinating none the less.

The Hobyahs. It was in my grandparents library. Scared the heck out of me as a little kid.

“Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson. I remember when I read this book that I thought the author had a very extensive and vivid imagination. It’s a book that I couldn’t put down.

My mom read to me and my younger brother every night when we were tots, so this goes way back -

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is my most memorable book. We'd never heard anything like it before. The book she read from had lots of illustrations, and they were very different, too...a giant Dodo bird, that creepy cat, a turtle with a cow's head...every illustration was an oddity verging on horror.

I loved it!

He is left behind with Willow, an injured young woman abandoned by the tribe because of her inability to travel in the nomadic lifestyle they employ.

I think this one was my favorite back then.
