A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today was another rainy day but we put raincoats on our dogs and went out anyway. Luckily we went out right at a perfect time. It didn’t really start raining until we were finished our walk which was great.

We met a couple with 4 big dogs. I was surprised that the young woman could even handle all of three of them. The other woman handled one of them and all was good.

We really needed all the rain we are getting. They rivers were completely drying up but now they are gushing with water. I love the sound of the water when it’s flowing like it is now.

Here’s a small waterfall on the roadside on our way back home.IMG_1326.jpeg
And lastly, here’s a happy cow not far from where we live. IMG_1320.jpeg
Have a great day everyone.

Today is only 2 degrees and very windy. Yesterday was 17 degrees. That’s a significant difference.

We went to the park today which was very windy considering it right beside the ocean.

The ocean is quite wavy today which is expected.

While walking we saw 4 deer which had stopped to see what we were doing. We stopped too so we could take a picture of the nice family. They are a bit camouflaged but if you see the one out front , you can see the faces of all 4 of them. It was a lovely moment.

Unfortunately we had to keep walking which scared them so they got separated. One deer went straight ahead , I think it was the mom and the dad turned around to go back where he originally came from with their young ones.

It made me wonder how they find each other when they separate so I looked it up. Apparently they find each other through their incredible sense of smell. The mother has a sense of smell better than a bloodhound. A mother can track her fawns scent by the glands left in their hooves. A mother also has a certain call that her young can identify.
A fawn wil respond to its mother’s call.
A mother can also recognize her own young by body language.

This is interesting stuff to me.
I hope you find it as interesting.

The lobster boats are getting ready to close the season down. Most of them have their pots in already but some are still behind.

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day.

That was very interesting. Learned some things about deer. :)
Nice pictures, as always.

Today we went to the forest trail.
It was 4 degrees today and cloudy. We are expecting an 80% chance of rain later today.
Everyday our water depletion is getting replenished. Halfway through this trail we walk on there’s a spot where three rivers lead into one. IMG_1352.jpegIMG_1353.jpeg
IMG_1354.jpeg
There’s even a bit of a waterfall here.

It’s a 3.5 kilo metre walk. We have to be careful how long we walk. Our oldest dog has a poor paw. This morning’ while putting her winter coat on, she showed us how much it hurt her. We will have to figure out how to put her coats and sweaters on so it doesn’t hurt her as much.

Today we went on a new walk. One we haven’t been on before. It’ starts at the Causeway. The causeway is a roadway made from fallen rocks. It connects Cape Breton Island to Nova Scotia.

It’s a walk that doesn’t really connect to the rest of the trail. It may have at one time but the waves from the ocean washed quite a bit of it away.

We walked about 50 minutes so it was probably between 3 1/2 to 4 kilometres.
It rained part of the walk but it didn’t rain for long and was windy enough to dry us off.
Have a lovely day!IMG_1376.jpeg

Pretty path. Is the gravel easier on the dogs' feet?

I’m not sure. I think they prefer natural round that grows grass to a gravel one but I don’t really know. The bridge we came across they needed to be carried across. It was made of metal with circular holes in it and the holes were about the size of their paws..
I worry about Lucius' feet on street drains for the same reason. Sweet that you can pick your doggies up. What breed(s) are they?

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. I just caught up with yesterday and today. It reminds me to get outside and maybe drive to a small lake in the neighborhood.
Thank you for visiting. I highly suggest you DO go and find yourself a small
lake or river to walk beside. Most of our walks we drive to. Not that the walks around our home are boring. Far from it. We just like to take them places where we can let them off their leash AND places where other dogs have been. They really love smelling other dogs. Plus we like variety too.

On our way back home from our drive we saw cows cuddling into bails of hay.

We also saw a fox at the side of the road. It went into the bushes util we passed by then came back out. We see a lot of fox and eagles where we live.

I also took a picture of one of the free flowing natural springs. They flow 4 seasons of the year. The water is delicious and free for the taking.

Today we went for a walk in the forest. It was 0 degrees Celsius, so a bit on the cool side. I wore a winter coat and put sweaters on the dogs. We had to figure out a way to put on the sweater without hurting her left paw. We quickly learned that putting her injured paw in first then her head then the other paw worked out perfectly. Taking it off is much easier. We just pull the sweater over her head and she jumps out.

Here are some photos of the trail today.IMG_1394.jpegIMG_1395.jpegIMG_1393.jpegIMG_1396.jpeg
We didn’t see anyone on the trail today which is unusual. Usually there’s more people on the weekend.
Anyway, have a nice weekend everybody.

You live in a beautiful area, Patty. :giggle: I love the trails.

Today we went to the Atlantic Celtic Trail for a walk. It’s 7 degrees out and just started raining right when we finished walking.
It’s an hour walk. We are trying to not walk to far due to our oldest dogs paw. If we stop walking altogether, her paw will seize up.

Here are some photos of our walk.

Have a wonderful day.

@PeppermintPatty you go walking when it's 7 degrees?
That’s 7 degrees Celsius. I’ve taken my dogs walking at -40 Fahrenheit which is the same as -40 Celsius. There’s only 2 days in my life it’s gotten that cold. That’s cold. Our dogs get walked almost every day. The only days they don’t get walked is if it’s continuous rainfall. Even then I’ve got rain coats for them and sometimes I take them depending on the rainfall.

Wait...40 or -40?
