Would you believe I received my first Christmas card on Thursday, the 13 November ! (it was local as well)

When do you send yours ? Personally I think a couple of weeks before Christmas is ample time to let friends and neighbor's know you wish them a Happy Christmas

I must be in the minority because I really can’t understand why anyone would put up a tree or send a card in November. I’m sure they have their reasons – perhaps it just gives them a boost. I wish them a long joyous season.

Christmas trees and cards are in my rear window! 😉🤭😂

I used to put up the tree the first weekend in December and take it down the weekend closest to the Epiphany.

I always tried to time my Christmas cards so they would arrive in time for Christmas but too late for anyone to mail me a card as an afterthought.

Based on the mail service (in the US) I've been getting the past few months, mailing Xmas cards this up coming Monday just might get them to their destination before Xmas. The post office that our little part time post office receives it's mail from doesn't process first class mail on the weekends. Now the people working there on Sat & Sun only process packages leaving other mail to wait for Monday. I'd guess with Xmas package volume likely to increase it will just get worse.

I'll best in Thanksgiving mode until the weekend after.
I do Christmas prep like making wreaths and things throughout the fall but nothing goes up until after Thanksgiving.
The exception was when Thanksgiving was one of the kid's Christmas because they would be out of town or something. I would put the tree up. 🌲
I'm fine with what anyone else does but pleeease, take the decorations down by March!

I try to send out Christmas mail - cards and packages - by December 10th.

My mother sent her cards out the day after Thanksgiving. Over the years, several people my age have commented with great affection that my mother's card was always the first they received. When it arrived the kids always knew the Christmas season had begun.

Another comment I heard was that most of the cards came addressed to their parents, but my mom wrote the names of the parents and all the kids on the envelopes. I also remember that my & my siblings names being included on a Christmas card envelope was very meaningful to me as a child.

It was a rare occurrence, but a joyful one. In turn, I do the same. All the kids' names are on the envelopes.

Same here, @StarSong, on both counts!

Some people think e-cards are impersonal, but, I like them.
I pay to send them from the Jacquie Lawson site, which has a large selection.
Stamps to send a card are $1.44 .. gone are the old days of cheap postage.

I've been using Jacquie Lawson, mostly for birthday cards, for years. They are very clever and fun to look at.

Postage in Canada sounds exorbitant to me. We pay about a dollar less for a stamp.
US first class stamps are currently 78¢.

I have been making my own Christmas cards for so many years that people have come to expect them. My list keeps shrinking so I don't feel the rise in stamp prices so much.

I get one hand made card each year from an artist in CT and I really look forward to it. He paints outdoors in oils but his Christmas card is a linocut. It makes a bold black and white statement.

I haven't come up with an idea for my own yet. The pressure is on.

Hi Wren :)

I mostly have sent out my Christmas cards the first week of December.

Now the recent years, say like recent 5 years, I am sending out less
Christmas cards but doing more emailing with the online season greetings.
I really like E-greeting cards and can always attach a personal note and words.

Those are nice if you know the person who would receive my greeting
has a computer lol.

I love the Christmas Holiday :)
