Yes I know, that's what I said - but in practice people , including me, call it shepherds pie, although it is usually made with beef mince.Minced Roast Beef is Cottage Pie![]()
do you have beef gravy cubes ''Oxo "...?One other thing the US is very lacking in is the difference in Brown Gravy flavor over the
one from England called Bisto Beef Granules. I order it on line since having it over there.
American brown gravy can not compare. I have only found it in one store where I have lived.
It truly is the best brown gravy I ever tasted.
My Dad had an uncle with a weird sense of humor too... when Dad was a wee one, Uncle Rex (who had dentures) used to pull the pliers he carried everywhere, out and with them he'd pull his own teeth out of his mouth, which freaked my Dad out to no end!Ummm I never liked it... because when I was a kid, I thought shepherds were the main ingredient. Yeah, I had a wonky childhood. And an uncle with a weird sense of humor.

I think we've all got some one in the families that scare the kids with something... my uncle, my fathers elder brother had a glass eye, and he would take it out and chase us kids around the house with it.... and my grandfather had chopped his index off at some point in his life and it was just a stub.. and he'd call us over and ask if we wanted a penny, and instead he would stroke our palms with his stubby finger... ewwww....My Dad had an uncle with a weird sense of humor too... when Dad was a wee one, Uncle Rex (who had dentures) used to pull the pliers he carried everywhere, out and with them he'd pull his own teeth out of his mouth, which freaked my Dad out to no end!
I don't recall ever seeing this brand here. The big seller here in cubes is called Bouillon cubes made by various companies. . They are so salty and pungent to me.do you have beef gravy cubes ''Oxo "...?

Aussies use Vegemite and Kiwis use Marmite instead.do you have beef gravy cubes ''Oxo "...?
I hate both... but Marmite is more popular here among consumers than Vegemite...Aussies use Vegemite and Kiwis use Marmite instead.
Fish pie?...I love fish pie....fish in sauce covered in cheesey mashed potato...grilled until crisp... in fact I'm making it tonight....Cover anything at all with mashed potatoes and I'll be happy.
yes we have Bouilllion cubes here too. they're ok but not really good for a beef gravy. The Oxo stock cubes are crumbled into your meat dish, they are salty, but not in the same way as the former...I don't recall ever seeing this brand here. I tried them in gravy and for stock to put in dressing and hated the flavor. Now you make me wonder how wrong the cubes are too here.
Marmite as you know it is not what the Kiwi Marmite has evolved to, it's been made in NZ since World War 1.I hate both... but Marmite is more popular here among consumers than Vegemite...
No self respecting chef would put marmite into a Shepherds pie...![]()
yes I know... it's actually more disgusting IMO than Marmite.... IMO..lolMarmite as you know it is not what the Kiwi Marmite has evolved to, it's been made in NZ since World War 1.
