I really like this idea --- how is the upkeep? I'm worried about those black tanks :(

Black tanks aren't a problem if you make sure to keep a little extra water in them. Keeps the poop from hardening.
I will say, be sure to check your black tank drain hose... nothing like finding a leaking hole or split in the hose when you're emptying the tank. o_O Ask me how I know. :ROFLMAO:

Oh no... that's one story I don't want to hear 😂 😂

I don't know if I could handle all that on my own, if something happened to my husband.

Have you ever tried the compost toilet? I don't even know exactly how that works - but seems equally .... "icky" 😂

Got one when we started building the cabin for my mom. Then decided it was better to install a small septic tank instead. Worked out ok as I was able to sell the compost toilet for $900 to some off grid people.
Always it was basically a re-design of the old 6 dollar stand by. :ROFLMAO: see below.
