I love it, but due to its richness, I can't drink too much. We have it every holiday season.
I mix it half and half with milk. We like Pet brand the best. Even over the fancier ones.I love eggnog, but it is too rich to have much at a time for me. What i do is buy a quart of it in the holiday season and add it to my morning coffee instead of regular milk or cream, and sometimes I dilute it with milk and then it last longer.
My mother made that for me to get protein in when I was being picky.I’m a big fan of eggnog.
When we were kids our mother always made us a glass of this simple eggnog when we were sick. I still use this basic recipe during the holidays with the addition of some heavy whipping cream in place of part of the milk.
Eggnog for one
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
grated nutmeg
Whirl in a blender and add a shot of booze if you like.
Byrne Dairy is the local cult favorite, along with peppermint flavored milk.

Ooh, eggnog ice cream........must buy..........I love eggnog but I don't buy it because I'd be tempted to drink too much of it. I doubt I'll be attending any holiday parties where I could get a glass of it. I also love eggnog ice cream, which I haven't seen in a long time. I may pick up a quart of eggnog, now that you mention it. My blood sugar is being controlled better and I'll have to just control myself.![]()
Before you give up try making a cooked drinking custard, basically a pasteurized version of eggnog that can be made a day ahead and left in the fridge to chill. We used to make our own eggnog every year and it was always very good. I knew there was some small risk of SALMONELLA, but I'd eaten raw egg in one form or another for years so I didn't worry about it.
Then, in the 1990s, I contracted salmonella (not from raw egg but from unwashed produce at a restaurant). Believe me, this disease is NOT something you ever want to experience. The Cleveland Clinic says only one in 20,000 eggs contains salmonella but I'll never risk it again!![]()

Maybe Aldi's will stock up on itSame here .. it will probably hit the shelves in a few days.
Great! I've never had eggnog with liquor in it before. One of these days maybeI like a nice cup of eggnog with a little brandy in it, or a little cinnamon and nutmeg on top. I have had eggnog served warm with cinnamon and nutmeg on tog. It’s also good served that way.
I like a little dark rum or cognac in mine, it doesn’t take much.Great! I've never had eggnog with liquor in it before. One of these days maybe![]()
I'd try it with cognac. I've never had cognac.I like a little dark rum or cognac in mine, it doesn’t take much.
The clerks at the liquor store always look sideways at me when I ask for a half pint.
