Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends. 🤗 :coffee:🌲

You guys have me smiling with your marshmallow wars. :) You know, that's the only time I enjoy marshmallows, when they're sort of smooshy from being in hot chocolate. And well, when they're burned over a fire.

Boyfriend is at a party for his nephew this afternoon (evening for him), which I'm sure he's enjoying. Makes me smile to think of him having a nice time.

Husband, son and I played cards last night and that was so much fun. :) We always have a good time and crack each other up. I made some peanut butter cookies for the game, but I didn't love how they came out. Meh. Oh well; baking is like that.

@CallMeKate, glad you're recovered from last night's chill. :) It's been seriously cold here too (we're in the same region, I know), which is making for challenging Lucius walks.

@PeppermintPatty, I must admit that I am not fond of walking in the snow. We're in a suburban/business area and consequently there is often salt on the sidewalks and streets, and it gets tricksy keeping Lucius' feet out of it.

---Also, I need to be extra careful if there is ice because that can cut Lucius' poor feet. (Happened to our first Boxer, Howie and I had to take him to the vet.) :( The snowy weather is a pain, really.

---Having said that though, hot weather has its own problems in trying to keep Lucius off the hot pavement and tarmac, carrying water for him, etc. What can you do? We love our dogs so we do what we must. 🤍🤍🤍
I know you know all about that!

---Hope your husband was able to catch up on some rest and is feeling better today.

@MarciKS, glad you're feeling better.

@Kaila, How are you doing today? I don't think you've mentioned any appointments today so, hopefully, you're getting some well-earned rest. 🤍

Hoping everyone is feeling good this Wednesday afternoon.

@PeppermintPatty - I forgot to answer your query about my grocery delivery service. Yes, I'm happy with it. I don't have a car and I started getting deliveries during lockdown. I tried a couple of different supermarkets and am happy with the one I finally decided on, which is Tesco. I usually get heavy/bulky items delivered. There is an Aldi within 2/3 minutes walking distance so I sometimes go there for a few bits and pieces and a browse through the bargain aisle too. :cool:

@Pam / husband only slept for about ten minutes so I’m going to sleep suggest some sleeping aids ( pills ).

Your Rocco clearly isn’t used to the snow and probably wouldn’t like it. We put coats on ours so they aren’t as cold. Coats are especially needed when we clip their fur right down. Ours don’t seem to mind the snow. The reason I say that is by watching them in the snow., The paths we normally walk on are now completely covered with snow It looks like one or two people and a dog went through the snow. Our dogs both trudge through the snow wanting to smell other dogs pee and cover the smell with their own. If they didn’t like it they’d be closely following us.

Added - It sounds Iike you found a good match. Covid probably pushed the need for such a necessity but glad you found one.
Having a store close by must he convenient. It’s something we don’t have. Our closest store is 23 minutes away but we have gotten used to it.

@Kaila / Husband is currently taking a second nap so we will see.

Yes our doctor is moving to Ontario. He’s most likely had a better job offer. Ontario is most definitely the most financially sound than Nova Scotia, especially where we lived. We had the best heath care with best. I don’t currently have a replacement doctor but my doctor HAS put in a request for a psychiatrist. Someone who can prescribe my meds etc.,

@Medusa / I forgot you had a boxer. Have you considered those rubber booties? We tried them on our dogs and they kicked them off in no time! 😂 The salt the ploughs put down is horrible on their paws. I hope you find a soution.

Exactly what happened when we tried them on Howie! :ROFLMAO: If they weren't being kicked off, they were falling off. So, we haven't bothered trying with Lucius, anticipating the same results, at least as regards falling off. Puppy shoes need work!

I live in a similar setting. I refer to it as mishmash zoning. It suits me.

My little fellow truly hated his coat. He’d be going slowly and then he’d speed up - that’s when he got his coat off.

I had to wash his little paws and tummy when we got home.

My older son in FL, for a long time after our Howie passed, slept with his winter coat. ❤️

@Medusa
Only really likes marshmallows, when they're doused in chocolate, or if they're burned on a campfire. ☺️😁😄😆🥰

That's good for us to keep in mind.
😅🤣😂

Meanwhile, I don't think that any of the present supply , will make it to that stage;
as we are busy throwing those cute little ones at each other, in all out combat mode. 😄😁
And wondering why there are fewer and fewer, as we do so. 🫣🤔🙄🤔😳😱

😁

I do want to reply to other posts above, but will need to do so, slowly. 🥰🥰🥰

@PeppermintPatty
I hope that your husband will feel better after the 2nd nap.

I also hope that you'll hear about a new doctor soon. 💗

Our Dr's now (psych. Dr's included) are allowed to write scripts for a 90 day supply, with a refill. And they often do.

I wonder if they allow it there, for your doctor who knows you well, to possibly do, if he leaves before there's some continuity for you.

I'm sure that you are on top, of all of your options. But of course, I want your needs to be met. 🥰

I'm surprised that someone hasn't done more work toward better shoes for puppies and other dogs.
It seems very much needed and would be appreciated by so many.

Start with a stretchy fabric that repels cold water and salt, and it's strong and impenetrable by street chemicals, glass...etc, etc????

I mean it seriously, even if my wording or tone seems partially silly.

We mainly bought the boots to cover the fur on their paws. In the winter while walking snowballs on their paws builds up. Somedays by time I’ve gotten home the snowballs on their paws are huge. The only way to prevent it is to keep their fur short which is what we did yesterday. We clipped both our dogs fur.
Since their fur is so short , we put coats on them.

The doggy boots were a complete waste of money for us. I think we paid $40 or so for them. Our dog must have thrown those boots a good 50 ft or so. We laughed so hard and still do when we think about it. It was VERY funny. Clearly you had a similar experience. Lol.

Oddly enough we always have one dog who’ loves the sweaters and coats and the one who hates them . Our Yorkie used to walk sideways when we put her coat or sweater on.

My husband is still tired. He just doesn’t sleep enough. He tries to make up by having naps but only sleeps about 10 minutes or so.
I also hope that you'll hear about a new doctor soon. 💗
I hope I do also but not holding my breath. One good thing is that we have virtual doctors who can fill in for the lack of doctors. They can push for a real doctor’s appointment much better than I can.

All my prescription drugs ARE 90 day plus refills making them last a good 6 months which I Iike very much.

Thanks again Kaila . I Think Im
On top of all my medical options

Your dog threw the expensive shoes 50 feet?! 😁😆😅🤣😄
Did you sign him up for soccer or basketball? 🫠☺️😊

That's very difficult that your husband's sleep problem is like that. 😕 Mine has been very bad at times too.
I hope his day and yours, has bright spots, today. ☺️🤩🥰

You know, not at all creepily, Pinterest yesterday began showing me pictures of what are apparently new and improved puppy shoes. They have straps that --lemme get a picture:

When we tried shoes for Howie and he easily kicked, or they just fell off, I was envisioning maybe trying to make something like these for him by attaching elastic straps to his shoes that would fit in a similar way to the picture. Amazon sells these and they do make them for larger dogs. So, if this winter is bad with salt and ice, they might be worth looking into.

morning everyone.

not much going on here today. i'm off work. waiting on some jimmy john's to be delivered and a handful of things from walmart.

hope everyone is well.

@Kaila hope you're doing ok today. *hugs*
Good morning back... oh well it's not morning.
Could I define morning as anytime I still have my p.j.s on?🤔😊😁
It's still morning here then. 😂

What is jimmy johns?
I could Google that but it's more fun to make up silly guesses. Long John's, because it's cold?😁😄😊
Something to eat.... but what?😉☺️

Jimmy John's is a sandwich shop.
