Besides Senior Forums, where else do you like to be online?

I've tried Facebook and Reddit, but there's no sense of community in either of those. I prefer these old style forums where you kind of get to know people. SFs is really the only social media site I go to these days. I look at a lot of YouTube videos, but I don't really consider that "social" media; it's just media.

That said, my wife has been watching fireplace videos on YouTube, and now my YouTube video feed is almost nothing but fireplace videos! I'm going to have to give her a separate account.
I've had the same experience. Reddit is great for following specific interests and SF has a nice sense of community, as you've mentioned.

I'm with your wife; I love those 10 hour ambiance videos. :)

I have a facebook account but its locked and I dont post on it. I look at reels and cat videos and snoop. Every once in a while, I look up someone I remember from the past to see if I want to reconnect. After looking at their facebook page I usually decide not.

I belong to a few facebook groups of antique furniture and old stuff that I collect. Some holiday groups and some crafting groups.
Some cooking groups and DIY groups. I joined some widows groups. That was a mistake. :D

Im signed up for some other forums but they became too cliquish and political so I dont post there anymore.
Just here and some reddit groups.

I'm a member of Reddit, Bluesky, and several forums - party-specific political forum, City Data, a dog forum, Linux Mint, MobileRead, and here. On a typical day, I go nowhere online except here - otherwise I do research or play mahjong. If I feel anxiety about doing something I must, a few quick games of mahjong wipes it right out (probably because it distracts me).

I like to keep in touch with friends and family with Facebook, and I do belong to some facebook groups as well. I read a lot of news and weather information on X, and follow people on there that I am interested in.
I also belong to a couple other forums, a small seniors forum, and another small general forum. I enjoy all of these, and usually spend time every day.

I once asked a question about money/ legal advice on reddit. Once never again. Some people were great, helpful, kind and others my goodness. Okidoki. Thanked the ones who gave a normal answer and removed my account again.
Ha ha, yes, exactly! It's very hit-or-miss. I once got called a "brain-dead moron" because someone didn't agree with me saying the film The Zone of Interest could possibly be deemed part of the horror genre. But like you said, some people are very kind and helpful.

I mostly lurk, but I'm actually looking forward to r/TwilightZone on New Year's Eve and Day. Last year, many people posted photos of their TVs as they watched the episodes. It was interesting and fostered a sense of community. (Well, I thought it did.)

Am not on any post-smartphone social media sites. A decision, that has isolated my mind from its pollution. Other web sites I frequent are outdoor activity groups I participate in, though none are general like SF.

A major online visited web category, with 76% use in the USA, are video game websites. And specifically since such is by far in the USA, the statistical most dominant use of the Internet for many, though few will publically admit such though it needs to be noted, 78% of men watch web pornography, 44% of women watch web pornography, and 73% of teens have consumed web pornography. A prime reason Australia to their credit, just became the first nation to ban social media for those younger than 16. Neither of the two above I ever visit.
I wonder if I'm the only one here who has never visited either a Porn website...or a gaming website...

Now ehen I say gaming I literally mean like warcraft and such...never have....

I've had a very few unpleasant encounters on Reddit. Mostly, people are cordial with each other. But then, maybe it's the kind of subs I follow: r/barbie, r/animalcrossing r/romancenovels, etc. I don't follow any "charged" subs.

Though one time, someone did absolutely freak out because I mentioned that I only use my Switch OLED for Animal Crossing. They just couldn't get over it. Weird. I didn't bother responding to such a ridiculous comment, but a bunch of people on the sub jumped in on my behalf, which was nice. The Animal Crossing subs are generally very nice.

This is mostly where I "hang out". I go on Facebook every few days, but that site has gotten to be so annoying. I only stay because there are so many family members I only get to connect with there and good online friends from 20 years ago who I want to stay connected with. A good friend of mine keeps trying to get me to join Instagram, but I've been procrastinating.
Listen to your inner Diva....;)

I need to join Instagram for business reasons. I have no qualms about it. The main reason I hadn't joined is because I can't decide what screen name to use. Should it be what I used for my website or my first name...perhaps first name and middle initial. I don't want it to be too long or complicated. I swear....I've exhausted my decision making abilities. For so many years of my life, I've had to make important decisions by myself and am still making them.

I am a regular member of a music forum. It's much like this, but even more pedantic. Also, you had better be 100% accurate, because they roast you if you're not. Simple opinions without explaining the basis for your opinion is opening yourself up for dismissal.

On one hand, it can be an unfriendly place. But it does teach you a lot too, both about music and being precise.

I don’t belong to The Book of Faces or any other social media places of garbage.

I do belong to a few horse forums because I have had horses for 60+ years and I actually learn more there, than anywhere else, about real life. Although the winds are changing on those forums thanks to so many young people with a much different mindset than us long timers.
Book of Faces! :LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Forum at : patternreview.com Sewing discussion and other stuff. I'm on FB but not under my name and am part of some private art groups from art courses that I have purchased online. I'm also on Instagram, again not under my name when I want to check out some of my art instructor profiles.

I'm on Gransnet but don't post much as there are a lot of personal attacks when it comes to politics. I'm also on Facebook but only to keep in touch with my family.
I agree.. it doesn't matter what you say there..someone is going to attack..and they make personal as well... that's the reason I rarely post there as well

I was on X and BlueSky for the same reasons. I used to have to write a post that summarized each journal article I edited for the American Psychiatric Assocation. Trying to summarize a 25-page research article into 140 or fewer characters is not fun. Luckily they stopped that practice.

I used to be on Instagram quite a bit, and met some really interesting people, but then I found my son's girlfriend's account and . . . let's just say it didn't go well. I deleted my account and didn't go back for more than a year. I recently set up another one, but only to follow a bunny I like in California. (Yes, a bunny. 😊)

I may try Gransnet based on what some other people have said.

I'm online several hours a day for my work, so I tend to drift in and out of varius sites often.

I do a fair amount but I like to think that I keep it focused.

Facebook for family connections, a couple of bass guitar groups and an instrument buying and selling group. We also use it for cruising. Generally someone starts a group for each specific sailing and we will join that for cruises that we are about to take. Good way to get info and to meet some folks that you might actually run into in person on the ship.

My Reddit feed is similar, bass guitar, technology and cruising.

Pretty much the same for my RSS news feeds; technology and music sites. A couple of political sites sneak in here.
