well the plumber can say about 3 words in English which tbh is a bit of a concern for me hoping he can at least read English and know which part goes with which part lol.... I had to repeat several times before he understood I was asking him if he wanted coffee...
When I worked at Walmart I saw that there were apps being used by foreign customers where they talk into it and can then show you the English translation, and vice versa.

I have a chair size electric blanket. I am hoping the twin size will be big enough to keep the dogs off my lap in the middle of the night. Two dogs who each way 75 to 85 pounds on my lap are cause for lack of sleep.

As of this writing, the dogs won’t go outside because it’s raining, although not that hard that they couldn’t go out, but they might melt you know. And the horses won’t come out from under the overhang because they also think they might melt in the rain.🙄🙄.
Please let us know if this works! My two small (15# & 20#) dogs like to cuddle up, one in front of my legs, the other against my back so I am trapped. The other evening, the old guy climbed over my head to get on my chest. No no no. You get back to your spot. I roll blankets up in such a way that it surrounds them (in winter).

The spaniel will go outside in any weather (3 yrs old). The old shihtzu will step outside the door and turn right back around and come back inside if it's raining. Too funny.

I will report back🤠🤠

It just now quit raining. That means I looked out the window and saw the horses right up here by the house grazing. The dogs jumped off the bed and went outside for the first time since 7 o’clock last night.

That was a awful long wait for them, but they stayed on the bed curled up in balls probably so they wouldn’t think about having to pee🥸🥸

A productive day. Stopped at town hall to leave my tax payment. Filled the car's gas tank. Stopped at the bank to get some cash. Had my car inspected (it passed, thankfully). Grocery shopped. Delivered meals.
Sounds like a good day. I hope you had a break to relax, somewhere during all of those errands. I know how good it feels when everything goes smoothly and a lot gets accomplished!

Well.. I had to clear out one of the sideboards which holds shelves of my trainers...because it's being replaced this weekend with a new one...
this one... which most of you have seen before...

and I had to squeeze all of these trainers into one of the wardrobes upstairs...this cupboard is downstairs..... so I can take the cupboard apart and drag it ouside , so the new one can just immediately slot into place.

Up and downstairs about 10 times... and dragging heavy furniture...my back is killing me, so it takes a lot of pain before I resort to painkillers but I've had to take some Codeine & paracetamol to ease the pain

I'vve been up since 5.30am... it's now just after 8pm..it's been a looong day.....

Did your other workers all come today? You said one was there early but the weather was nasty so wondered if the others came eventually?

I've had it changed , to help reduce your stress levels
Thanks for not replacing it with a new thread for 2026. When I'm in the dark about a post, I often go back a few pages on the current thread to read or reread posts for some context.

Speaking of being a bit in the dark, I must have missed the reason for your current construction project. Is this to revamp/repair an existing utility room or carve out a new one?

That's the reason I chose not to create a new thread. Our esteemed leader said I could if I wanted to, but I explained that it's very comforting for some of our online family to have no change...

It's a whole new build..from scratch.. a whole new Utility room being built . I've never had a utility room in this house, they're not the norm in the UK...I've got one in Spain but not here...

This is a picture of the plans for one side of the room...... the other side will have a sink the washer and dryer.... and more units

I would have thought that bigger houses would have utility rooms. I only have one in my house because there was a somewhat dilapidated storage building behind my house. This, I think was originally for storing animal feed, and the last owner used part of it as a garage for his small car. I virtually rebuilt it to provide a utility room, wood store and a workshop.

I have a fair size house and I don't have a utility room.. most houses don't... doubtless newer larger homes will.. but I've been in some HUGE houses as part of my researching in TV and film.. and they don't have utility rooms..in fact it would seem the more upmarket, the more expensive, the more ''Old money'' house it is, the less they actually spend on the Kitchen and area.... it's the younger generation like my Daughter who have very large plush kitchens... or as they're now dubbed ''Instagram ready''...

however in saying that..my daughter spent a lot of money after she bought her bungalow ...renovating the whole house.. underfloor heating, new everything , every room knocked out and replaced with brand new and very modern.. The kitchen was small.. so the had it all knocked out and extended, and it's now very big.. and beautiful... but even she didn't add on a utility room..

I've just been and dragged the wood cupboard out of the house and outside to make space for the new one which is arriving tomorrow...

2 items are coming a new TV unit and a cupboard both Oak...in matching cream..both will be very heavy..

The current cupboard was second hand when I got it about 20 years ago..from ebay... and it's been in the same place all these years, so I was surprised just now when I pulled it out that it was all clean behind there..I was expecting Spider webs..

I can't do the same with the TV unit..bcause that's too heavy, so I asked my builders if they would help me next week to lift the tv off the unit and pull it out , and they've agreed...

Clean behind the cupboard? Wow!

I love having a utility room. Every house I have had has had one.

When the baseboards are installed (after the carpet at the end of this month), I will have that guy help me move the walking pad into the new room. Too heavy and it's up five steps.

You are gonna love your new utility room!

Yes I am...I;'ve wanted one for years...I know most American homes have utility rooms, but they're not the norm here....

My house had a tiny laundry room when we moved in, but we added some square footage to it and converted it to a half bath (sink and toilet) during major remodel and addition in 1989. My architect and general contractor were surprised when I insisted on moving the laundry area to the garage, but I wanted to get the noise and chaos out of the house. An interior door connects the house to the garage, so I don't need to go out into the weather.

From the moment we moved here in 1985 we knew we'd never park in the attached two car garage. It's a workshop, utility room, storage area, laundry room and houses everything we need for our small business (other than the few times a year when we're really cranking and the overflow comes into the house).

We went from 1486 square feet to 2500.

I had a 5 year old and 3 year old twins when making those choices, so laundry was endless. If remodeling now, I'd add an interior utility room. However, it's worked out just fine over the years.

Photos of UK houses often show washing machines in the kitchen, which is rarely true in the US.

Does the new Robot just stand in the corner or does it transfrom and tuck away in a cabinet?

yes the washing machine, the dryer , the fridge freezer , are all in the kitchen in most UK houses...

The people across the road from me ..did precisely what you did to their house, about 45 years ago. They made the garage their utility room/tool room with a connecting door from the kitchen... and they just park on the drive...

The cardiologist came through with a prescription at 4:30 this afternoon. The pharmacy called at 4:55 to say it was ready. What luck! I picked it up and got home at sunset. I don't drive at night. Now I just need to eat something and take my first dose. I will sleep better tonight.
I'm happy to see this, Babs !
