Tell us about your day and yesterday, if you'd like, but didn't get a chance to post about it. That happens with me a lot. Today was a busy day. I did laundry and put away most of it, cleaned the bathroom, loaded and ran the dishwasher, disassembled Deja's fountain and thoroughly cleaned that. I emptied the water in the fountain's tank and refilled it with fresh filtered water. I also emptied and washed out her littler box. Shortly after that, she made a mess by getting some of the litter on the floor...so I had to get that up. Each of those things, except loading the dishwasher, required bending, twisting and lifting so now I'm tired. I hope y'all had a great day and will have a.......

Since CVS and Walgreens have closed in my neighborhood I run to Walmart often. Today I needed the Equate version of Preservision, some collagen and cat food for the little darlings. Also some neosporin equilivent and big bandaids. Where the heck did that injury come from?

Time to try to get some rest. Another funeral tomorrow. A friend offered to drive to this one which pleases me. There are so few friends left. But boy do I appreciate the few! They are precious.

I've used Equate versions of name brand products, including the neosporin generic. I've been satisfied with them. Sometimes I wonder how I got my mysterious injuries too Babs! I went to two funerals within the last couple of months. One was my cousin, another was a friend and neighbor, who's service was three weeks ago. I was supposed to go to my future DIL's mother's funeral tomorrow, but she'll be taken to the cemetery in a horse drawn carriage, which will take an hour or more. I know that lining up for the motorcade procession and the service at the cemetery also take a bit of time. I'd need a bathroom break (maybe a couple of times) before they would get to the repast, so I decided it's best not to go.

It is very hard losing friends. You have my condolences on your losses. It's nice that your friend offered to drive.

Thanks, Diva. I had another funeral on Tuesday but that is unusual. I know what you mean about bathroom breaks. I need to be careful.

In years gone by our social diary would be filling up for the New Year. There would be, still are, many a venue for those of us who love dancing, along with Big Band music and all that goes with the genre. It had to be entered into a diary because my wife's work in the ambulace service meant around the clock shift pattern. Inevitably she would discover that she would be on a shift that clashed with an event, but a chat with a colleague and a shift swap, and we would be at that venue.
Retirement has meant that we can go wherever we want, but her surgery in late 2024 has all but curtailed any sort of energetic socialising. But, as the lady says, she can still listen and dance in her head.
Yesterday I bought tickets for Si Cranstoun. He will be headlining at an event in a hotel about a thirty minute drive away, which means I could buy day tickets at £30 rather than the weekend price of £289.

Yesterday was expensive after getting our car serviced and repaired, add in the cost of the classic MG's repair, (the fuel gauge wasn't working,) and my wallet was considerably lighter.
The mention of funerals reminded me that we said farewell to three frieds in 2025. New Year's Eve was particularly painful to see the husband of one of those friend's departed. We were at their golden wedding anniversary party just a few years ago and now he is a widower.
On the positive side though, my lady continues to improve, she spent yesterday evening in her cabin, sorting out fabrics, patterns and such like. She has slowed down but there's that sparkle in her eye and her demeanor is much more positive. She's aching to get back on the dance floor.

Hello. I got my running around done yesterday. Today I have to do some dishes. I need to change my sheets too. I should have another set of sheets to use.

Mainly I'm relaxing today. I have to start making more lists of other things I want to do and need to do also. I have Spotify playing some slow blues. Sounds pretty good!

Luckily a friend called and insisted that her husband drive us to the funeral today. It was only about 5 miles away but parking was quite a distance from the event. The friend who called is suffering from a brain bleed after a fall. It is worth noting that a brain bleed was the cause of death for the departed.

There was a big crowd of both old and new friends. She moved to a posh facility a few years ago when she inherited some money. (They have apartments and houses and medical facilities and a dining room with wine and candles.) One thing I learned was that she created a great library in her new church. She was a former librarian. She did other good deeds anonymously which were revealed now that she can't object.

They always call these things a celebration of life. In this case it seemed to be.

I was up in the middle of the night as usual. I went back to sleep around 7:30 and didn't wake up until noon. I watched T.V. and played games, snoozing more in between. At 3:00 I decided to make pumpkin bread in my new breadmaker. The prep, which I always hate took almost a half hour, partially due to trouble opening the can of pumpkin, even with the brand new sturdy can opener. I had to grab and pull the top to get it open enough to scoop the pumpkin , then make sure to keep it in my limited space, so as not to cut myself.

Some ingredients were by measurement, some by weight. I didn't realize until the bread and I scooped out the rest of the pumpkin into portioned containers as the was baking, that the weight was wrong. Intitially, the scale was not on a perfectly flat surface, although it appeared flat. The mixture had 2 ounces more pumpkin than it was supposed to.

What a disaster. I had trouble getting the baking tray out, then had to scrape the bread out because part of it was not fully baked, so it came out in pieces. The bottom was overly brown, but I decided to bake it further in an aluminum pan so the bread would be fully done. It hadn't fully mixed so some of the pieces had flour attached and part of it was burnt. :cautious: But....but! The parts that were edible were actually very good! I'll have to throw about half of it away though. I'll try again...next time I'll know what to do and what not to do.

After that fiasco, I went over to HS#3's for his broadcast. After the show we talked about his new song and the state of the world, which is quite :(:( When I got in, I ate some of the pumpkin bread, watched more T.V. and took another snooze. As usual, I started posting about my day around 11:44 p.m. (but had to stop and feed Deja).

I love your wife's attitude about having to curtail the dancing. I hope she continues to heal well and can get back on the floor soon. It's very cool that you two went ballroom dancing so often. Great memories and photos to look back on. Saving $250 per ticket on seeing Si Cranstoun tickets is a great deal. Don't know if it makes up for what you spent on your MG repair though. I admit, I never heard of him before. BTW, my uncle's MG was the first car I tried to learn how to drive. Notice I said tried to learn. 😆

Condolences on the loss of your friends too HC. How sad for your friend. May those who have gone on R.I.P.

Yes, in my neck of the woods, Celebration of Life is also the term used, as it should be. One finds out the darndest things about people at their "going home service", another term that was used for funeral. Wow...how ironic that your friend is suffering from the same ailment as your deceased friend. Lets hope she doesn't succumb to it any time soon.

Turns out, I could have gone to the funeral. My future DIL decided late last night (unbeknownst to me) not to go to the cemetery, but to go to the hall and help set up. I was surprised by it, but I'm sure she had her reasons. Sometimes the cemetery service is very hard to take, especially if the coffin is lowered while the family is still there.

Bless your friend for the good she did while she was on earth and may she R.I.P.

@Ruthanne, like you...I need to make to do lists. Even though they seem to help me be more productive, I don't make them often enough.

Thank you Diva, much appreciated. Si Cranstoun has been on the cusp of fame far too long, he just needs that lucky break.
We are off to church soon, later, we will top up with provisions at the supermarket. Some friends are calling on us this evening. A Big Band weekend that a group of us will be going around about the Easter period, needs a few plans put in place, so it's coffee and what's left of my wife's Christmas cake, I doubt there will be any of that left by the time our last guests leave.

Stick with one set of sheets!

If you have several sets then you will end up with several sets in the laundry.

I strip the bed the day I do laundry and put them right back, never more than one set of sheets in the laundry! 😉🤭😂

Yesterday was a pretty average day in paradise!

Did my steps, went to Wegman’s to pick up a prescription in the pharmacy section and a few treats, stopped at the car wash to get the salt off the car, etc…

Started wearing a mask when I go out, the flu is overwhelming the local emergency rooms. 😷

Amazed at how few people seem to be taking any obvious precautions and how few have gotten flu shots and Covid boosters this year.

In this area the vaccinations are running at around 30%, mainly senior citizens and workplace sponsored.
