It's 1.45pm... it's been pouring of rain for hours... Busy morning, people coming and going.. supermarket delivery arrived, .. then the pharamacist called with a myriad of questions

Then the Boss of the company dealing with the utility room arrived to have a look and inspection at all the work that's been done so far... and I had to make a couple of complaints about the electrician yesterday. I did state that i don't want him to get into any trouble because he did a good job, and he was pleasant.. , but several things were not acceptable like throwing his discarded lunch onto my lawn.. breaking my lawn edging... and the boss agreed... he said next time instead of clearing things up myself..to take photos...

The only people that haven't turned up yet are the Plasterers who should have been here this morning. The Boss guy has just left.. and he said that they will be still coming despite how late it is... but it means they may have to come back tomorrow as well...

The furniture people called, and they will be delivering tomorrow morning as well.. so all in all it's been a really tiring week so far!

Good morning to everyone. I had a grocery delivery, bread was expired, so I get a refund.
Walmart delivery of everything I ordered (6 items). Garbage pickup between the deliveries and they left the garbage can in road.

@hollydolly what a start to your day, mine is minor in comparison. Take care of yourself and hope thing will go better for you.

Stay well, everyone and enjoy your day. :)

Well the plasterers finally arrived a little while ago. They seemed a bit lethargic, I noticed they stayed in the van chatting before they came in.. despite being hours late... and when they came in they didn't seem as friendly as all the other workers who've been here over the last week.....then about 15 minutes later the Boss arrived, and stormed in and tore them off a strip... they're all 3 Romanians so I couldn't tell what what was being said... but the Boss clearly not happy with them

he's just left a few minutes ago.. and the plasterers are continuing with their job..... it's all happening here folks... I should sell tickets :ROFLMAO:

Update immediately...as I type this.. they've just downed tools.. and left.... I just saw them go out and into their car... ( my office window faces out the front)

...so I have no idea what's happening now :oops::oops:

Confused?.. you will be... tune in same time, next week for the continuing saga... of SOAP the utility build at Holly's house...

Sounds like the boss was not happy with the plasterers' work on a different job? Or maybe they haven't been paid? Who knows?

A few years back, I had a tree service taking down a huge tree. For whatever reason, two of the workers actually got into a physical fight; police were called. I didn't know it had happened until the boss came to my door and apologized.

Good news - my retina surgeon said everything looks stable, but I do show slight signs of macular degeneration in my good eye. However, I no longer have to see her on a six-month basis. She said now I can see her in 9 months and if there are no further issues, she can make it a yearly visit. I am sure my driver was also happy to hear that.

I have to start getting clever in offering the driver payment. A year ago, it was dark when we got back so I slipped $40 on the passenger seat because I know she would refuse direct payment. I tried that it again the last time, but she was on to me and saw it and wouldn't accept it. This time I slipped it in around her beverage mug in the dash holder. I feel she earns it - it takes up most of her afternoon and it probably costs about $5 - $10 in gas - it about a 60 mile round trip in a pickup truck.

right the plasterers have gone... it's now almost 5.30pm... yet another Boss turned up about an hour before they left.. he's British.. and a no-nonsense type... and he went to speak to them to check the work, and he'd obviously never met them before.. and it was like a pantomime..him asking them where they live, how far they'd come... .. over and over again he tried asking in different ways.. ''Romania'' ..they kept repeating... eventually he managed to make them understand and they said the name of the town where they live which is 2 counties away..

The funny thing tho' is after he left, and they cleaned up... they called me to say they were leaving, and told me in passable English and even answered a question I had with no trouble... so I don't know what the game was with their conversation with the boss guy..

Tomorrow.. there's going to be a 'drying day'' for the plaster to go off.... ..which is great because then I can go and get my nails done.....they've not been done since the beginning of December

The unfortunate part tho' is I can't have a much needed lie in, because the new furniture for the livingroom is arriving early...

Bless it, @hollydolly, your house sounds like one of those Elmer Fudd/Bugs Bunny routines where they are popping out of one door in the hall way and rapidly disappearing into another, over and over…

Well, today went okay. I am still terribly angry about some current events here that have to do with my country, not me personally. Only yes, all of us personally. After all, without all of us, there is no country.

My cardiologist prescribed me a new med for my blood pressure. I had to wait 1.5 hours for him today. I told him that if I have an appointment with him and he's running late, not to worry. I have a book with me, plus my imagination ... I don't mind waiting.

I have to have a nuclear stress test in 2 months. I've had one before, but I don't remember what it is. I do remember thinking back then that this is a fancy name for a no big deal stress test.

So to prepare for it, I'm going into training. Stress tests (treadmill) are not fun for me. I'm gonna pretend I'm training for boot camp.

The last stress test I had was probably in 2002. The one before that, the doc called an ambulance to take me to a hospital a block or two away. Meanwhile, I'm protesting that I can walk. Ended up having an emergency double CABG. The actual last one was 2 months later when 3 hospitals wouldn't listen to me ; so soon after having surgery, what could go wrong? Turned out they were wrong -- please never assume it's horse hoofbeats when a zebra is telling you to LISTEN. Got them to listen by pulling out my IV and preparing to leave for a rival hospital (harvard v. umass). IVs are easy to pull out; no idea why nurses always look horrified. 5 minutes later, three stents were being put in.

I've had so many instances of being mistaken for a horse that I have to tell all my doctors (and remind them sometimes) that I am a zebra.

I'm reading a book about the history of medicine. It is engrossing. I stayed up all night to read it. Then sort of panicked when I remembered I had to go to the doctor - driving on no sleep. Then realized that I didn't get my car out of the shop yet, so I have to call an Uber.

And both times the Uber drivers and I clicked and had great conversations on the way to and fro. Nothing heavy. We shared the same sense of humor and had fun telling stories of our lives. The second driver missed a turn, but since I miss that same turn all the time, I knew how to recoup quickly.

G'morning peeps of SF....🙋‍♀️

It's just after 8am.. it's freezing there's ice everywhere.... . I'm up showered and dressed, and got a cuppa tea.. and the furniture delivery people are due here iin about 10 minutes..

They called at 7.30m to say they were 45 minutes away... The store is 150 miles away...

Have the best day you can folks.. and hope those who were feeling poorly yesterday feel better today.... 🌺

Ok..and hour and a quarter on.. the furniture has been delivered, in 2 huge cardboard boxes, and the delivery guys said they can't take the boxes away.... so asked them could they with the promise of a tip lift my tv off the current heavy Oak tv unit, and pul it out and exchange the units over, which they did..thankfully.

However all the digital boxes.. internet and cable had to be unplugged first from the back... and now I've got real problem plugging them all back in, not knowing which plug goes where.. and having to do it blind so to speak ...

I've now screwed in all handles on the new little sideboard and got that into it's place...

... and I've cut up all the huge amount of cardboard... this little electric cardboard cutter which I bought a few months ago.. is an absolute star..made mince meat of the cardboard...

.... all this and it's only 9.40am...... ...

Finally getting used to retirement means forgetting that there are two eight o'clocks in a day. Up at seven next Monday, the telephone engineer will be here at eight, to drill a small hole, through which their company phone cable will pass.
Seven AM is worth the inconvenience, our current supplier, TalkTalk, just has to be the most awful company to do busines with.

Enough forum chat, we are off to do the grocery and provisions shop at the supermarket, then we shall drop by to see a dear lady who invited us to the Sunday jolly. Coffee with her then it's off to casualty, not the hospital one, the nail bar, her ladyship has chipped a nail. You should have heard the shriek, I thought that she had scalded herself or something similarly dramatic.

We have something else on today's agenda, but just as the current thread about memory loss says: "Er, I can't remember."

Well I'm back from another weeklong ban. It pains me to know that I can't quite toe the line here, a private place where I'm a guest that has caused the host extra work and undue angst. Hopefully I'll be able to control myself a little bit better and stay further away from the line. My apologizes to @Matrix.

Last week we had a touch of winter and the tourists left town so we had few people skiing and occupying space in town. Conditions were improving w a bit of new snow and colder temps helped the quality of skiing in what's otherwise been pretty dismal conditions.

Yesterday after training I rode down to my storage and saw about a dozen antelope and 45-50 swans out in a plowed field. Unfortunately ducks and geese are virtually non-existent these days in their normal spots. I got my motorcycles running, added some fuel stabilizer, aired up the tires to spec, and took each for a short blast around the storage yard. Perhaps tomorrow after training I'll take one for a ride somewhere as it's now weirdly warm again. Motorcycle riding in January in Idaho?!?

This is a screen grab from last evening. Be well!

Morning all, last night the water service for the entire building, our apartments and common areas was shut off from 9pm until 6am this morning due to leak somewhere in the garage. We all got memo in our mail slots a couple days ago. Yesterday we got another memo the sprinkler heads will be checked throughout the building and our apartments, no time was given when this will happen
On my early walk at 6:50 temp was 41, with a breeze as I strolled around the building once before breakfast
My friend, Mary is stopping by 10:15 picking up her reading material e.g last week's NYT, magazines. I told her I didn't need to go anywhere this week
The rest of my day, read today's NYT, book, check to see what the lunch& dinner menu is for today
I hope to get outside for another walk this morning before the rain arrives
Everybody have a good day

6:50am Wednesday waking up slowly after a second night at the Motel 6 in Carson City Nevada. About to eat a blue berry muffin with some whole milk for a breakfast. Body a bit weary after 2 more days of strenuous skiing. Will drive the 223 miles home this afternoon after my day 5 this winter.

We are in an extended dry weather period. Morning temperatures in this small Great Basin high desert city, have been in high 20Fs, so lots of frozen landscapes with barren deciduous trees.

Have taken lots of Pixel 10 Pro photos on ski slopes but will wait till I can post process back home on my desktop to deal with showing any.

What a busy day... after I'd done everything this morning, I had to scrape the ice off my car, so I could go and get my nails done and go to the street market to get fruit and also to get the watch seller who replaces my watch battery for me every year.

Glorious sunny day.... and the town I went to was absolutely packed with people.. no idea why because there was nothing going on there at all and mid January is traditionally a very quiet time everywhere.

I went to the pub to have lunch and there wasn't a table to be had.. until a couple of people left and we were able to sit down. Even the Pub manager said he had no idea why it was crowded..

After nails were done and the watch had it's new battery I got some grocery shopping.. and I also bought myself 2 cashmere ''style'' crew neck wool sweaters.... One baby pink, and one a kind of Taupe.. .. and also some long sleeve Tencel T shirts... all in the sales..

By the time I got home .. I really needed a little siesta, but soon after I got back the Boss of the builders called to say he was sending someone round..... but there's been no sign of anyone .. and that was almost 2 hours ago ..it's now 4.40pm.. and dark

In the meantime I've admitted defeat where the cables are concerned that plug into the TV boxes.. I'm either too tired or too stupid to work it out...
I tried calling a local TV installation company an hour ago.., but they're not answering their phones.. so it seems to be one of those days where no-one is where they should be.......

I'm too old for all this physical work in the space of 8 hours..:p
