There is a whole world of survivalist gear, techniques, and websites with advice to potentially endure catastrophic events. Just having food is only a start. One may have a 25 pound sack of rice, but without water, a stove on which to cook it on, or fire starters for a stove or fire, rather useless. And without a supply of flavorings or salt, maybe rather boring to eat.
Here in the SFBA urban region, I'm not worried about war but rather chaos if a really large earthquake like in 1906 strikes again that severely damages infrastructure. IMO a more likely scenario few think about, is resulting global pandemic chaos due to some third world terrorist military grade bioweapons lab, that is far more virulent and mortal virus than COVID-19, that leads to disruption of global commerce, food shortages, runs on banks, loss of employment, hording, and generally anarchist dystopian, gun crazed survival of the fittest.
