How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2026....

I have no reason to disbelieve you... I do however know that plasterboard ( sheet rock) is used freely in more modern housing... but my house is 70 years old, so it's all bricks and plaster...
I'm jealous! I love old buildings. Our house in Upper Michigan was 99 years old when we bought it back in 2000. It was so solid, lots of real wood and plaster, etc. It was my second-favorite house of ours. I'd go back in a minute.

Today, bit of a late start to get to the lifts. Some crazy driving by others at the start of a now 4 day weekend, instead of a 3 day holiday weekend(Friday is the new Saturday.) Another "warm" day w good snow conditions, skied a few laps on my own and ran into my wife and made a few laps w her.
She's a terminal intermediate skier, but she's in good shape and skis a couple thousand vertical feet w/out stopping so not that slow overall. I practice skiing slower, working on my technique behind her so it's good. We stopped for coffee in the dumpy lodge on top and I showed her my hidden stash of instant coffee I have in the employee break room. 2 coffees from the lodge is $12 or thereabouts----eff that!

Then it was off grocery shopping, shipped some skis out in a trade, made dinner, and that's all folks!!! Rest up and ski again tomorrow.

Tonight's sunset screen grab from Roundhouse slope, partly illuminated by a snow groomer's headlamps. The City of Ketchum center left, the Village of Sun Valley behind that, and my home is located center right amongst the smattering of lights in the foothills of the Pioneer Mtns.

Side story from today. I ride lifts w literally 1000's of people every season. Some are quiet, others jabber w friends non-stop, some make phone calls, others try to show each other up, some complain - a lot, some make pleasant small talk, and some want to talk about subjects beyond the scope of this forum. ;)

A bit of a downer today riding the lift. I'm alone waiting for the next chair and this guy slides on from behind w/out a friendly "mind if I join you?" I'm the quiet type, rather not involve myself w negativity, it's where i plan my runs, meditate, or enjoy the sun and scenery, and probably miss out on some good peeps in the process, but it gets me through the day.

He asks immediately "where are you from? and says I'm from Wisconsin and moved here 20 years ago." It's the typical I'm a local and you're not opening. I'm thinking "flatlander and blowhard."

I say - "I live here." His reply "what part of California did you move from after covid?" That is NOT Wisconsin nice. My reply was "I became a resident of Idaho in 1976 and was a ski bum here in the 1980's. I sold Idaho potatoes and onions for a living and made many farmers a LOT of money." That shut him down for about 2 seconds. Then he started w I bet you'd like so and so, "they're communists", "excuse me!" Then I had to go down the list giving my opinion on person after person.

What a jerk for brining that crap up. Probably the worst ride of the season to date.

Good mornin' peeps of SF..on this sunny Saturday.... 🙋‍♀️

I would have liked to have gone out this morning, but I just feel too worn out tbh.....Ive gone from having basically no-one here for months to everybody and his workmate here every day all day for the last 8 days and tbh it's really drained me...

Anyway... I'll stay home today, hopefully feel better tomorrow, and I can go to the big box store and check out the tumbledryers et al...

Good morning to everyone. It is warmer this morning at 40 degrees (well, warmer than 29). I read on the local news that we might get snow this weekend. Oh dear, that will be something I do not want.

I am waiting for a delivery from the store. One shopper removed and now a slow one I have had before and made a note she does not read instructions. I do not want to go shopping myself for a large shopping list as I am not that strong any more to do it all. My husband cannot help.

I hope all of you are doing well today and enjoy your day. :)

You know he was hoping for 1 of 2 things; to argue and inflame or to find himself in an echo chamber, both in an attempt to soothe his ego.

I feel for you, @againstthegrain. Being stuck on a ski lift with someone like that sounds like an extremely unpleasant experience. I mean, it's not like you can go anywhere.

I'm getting ready to head out for my weekly AA meeting. Wind chills are still hovering around 20 below 0, but I've been indoors for a few days, and I have some errands I really need to get done. The forecast indicates the weather won't be warming up any time soon, so I'm just going to have to bundle up and deal with it.

I'm already looking forward to getting back home this afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Up late this morning after 9 hours of sleep over 10 hours. Another mostly sunny day with light breezes with a 65F high. My white 2023 Trailblazer LS is rather dirty now after nearly 2 dry weeks.

Busy Saturday. Processed and mailed off bills including a 6 month auto insurance bill a bit over $1k. Visited supermarket bringing back $56 worth of food. Some kitchen cupboard cleaning. For lunch, mic'd a can of Progresso Tomato Tortellini Soup. 5:30 PST is the 49ers Seahawks NFL playoff game.

Edit:
Oh yeah. Last night given winter skiing and little live music clubbing, cut off about 2 inches of hair that now just reaches earlobes. My hair grows rapidly so will be down to my chin again in a couple months.

Home since last night. Son bought burgers from our local joint. Can't remember when I've had something so delicious. Happy to be home. Not physically well today. Achy and shaky & headachy all day. Promised son I wouldn't yell at Louie, but I forgot when he bit me. Didn't hurt, startled me.

So tired.

Happy you are finally home. Hope you feel better soon. Maybe another burger would help.

The auto body shop found a door for my Saturn already. Now it’s just a matter of shipping it here and then getting my car in there for them to replace the door. Hypothetically, I should be able to sit there and watch TV in the waiting room but Murphy’s Law being what it is, that might not be the case. I’ll just have to wait and see once the door gets here.

I unloaded 200 pounds of horse feed from the car into the garage. Now all I have to do is get it up on the landing.

Weather is going to tank, but it’s tanking everywhere east of the Mississippi, north to south, west to east.💩💩💩

Well thank goodness they've all left now until Monday ....

They've left a big industrial dehumidifier on.... to dry out the plaster....

I;m a bit concerned how much electricity it's using. No-one asked me if it was ok to use my electricity..in the past people have used their own generators..
I know what you mean but generators are noisy and running it overnight isn't usually done, not to mention you would have to live with that gennie noise. No thanks! The cost of electricity is just part of the building costs. AND...you are going to have to pay for the extra cost of heating/cooling that new room forever. Oh, the joys of homeownership, lol.

AND, if you lived in the US, you can look forward to that new addition increasing your taxes and insurance. Gotta love it, right? But you will really be glad you did this, once it is finished. Hang in there, friend.

Morning all, on early walk at 7, temp was 22,went around the driveway and sidewalks a couple times due to it being windy

Afternoon peeps of SF.... it's almost 2pm.. and foggy and damp outside...

I've just got back from the recycle centre where I took all the wood that was broken up by my neighbour 2 nights ago. I picked on the best looking young guy and asked him if he could help me lift it all out.. and he did ... (y)

Then i went to the superstore .. and bought 2 new sweaters. one in baby blue, and the other black Polo (roll) neck...but I really went there to get a little gift for my neighbours , and their children , as usual they've been super kind to me while this building is going on. but also they're having to put up with all the noise.. which they say they don't mind... but I know it must be irritating...

The store was mobbed... good grief I couldn't believe my eyes. 11am on Sunday morning and every aisle was packed with people. I mentioned it to the checkout lady and she said it's like this every Sunday now.. she doesn't know why...

When I got back I had to Vac out the car of all the sawdust and splinters

I got myself a bit of a cough today I don't know where I've picked that up from...

Have the best day you can folks.....🌺

I can’t. I give up. Need to do it for myself. Not you. Not grandson. Not son
@Pepper, I would never dare to say I've endured what you have lately. But you sound about as low as I've been feeling—as in, very close to giving up. Perhaps we can send each other some mental supportive vibes or good wishes.

Please hang in there. I'll be thinking of you today, and I'm sending a hug across the miles, from the icy Northern Plains.

Not well. I want to give up. Afraid. I’m done for. Can’t see it through
You’ve always been a fighter, don’t stop now. Just think about how much your son and grandson love you. And those kitties need you.

@hearlady has a good point about the sunshine. That’s when you thrive. Can you get out, even just for a few minutes. Spring is coming soon. At least the days are longer now.

I just earned £25.00 for doing nothing basically... My CC provider blocked my card as I went to pay for my new Kitchen appliances... so I had to pay using another cc card..I was absolutely pissed off.. because I'd kept that card especially to pay for those items .. and so I contacted them online.. they said the fraud dept had put a stop on it, and I'd need to call them by phone.. I'm always very polite on the phone regardless.. but 3 times as I attempted to get through , or just as I started to speak to an advisor I was disconnected.

Eventually I got through and the issue was resolved it was simply that it was a much larger payment than they're used to seeing from me.. but too late for me to use ....so they've paid £25 for me having the disconnections when trying to get this resolved...(y)

Just accomplished one of my 2026 bucklist items. My ThinkPad was running on Windows 10 which is no longer supported by MS. Along with that when I checked on updating to W11 I got alerts saying my PC could not run that IOS version. Well that's what I'm using now. One of those magicians on YouTube provided the instructions, and without too much difficulty I got it done. Check that one off the list.
