Side story from today. I ride lifts w literally 1000's of people every season. Some are quiet, others jabber w friends non-stop, some make phone calls, others try to show each other up, some complain - a lot, some make pleasant small talk, and some want to talk about subjects beyond the scope of this forum.
A bit of a downer today riding the lift. I'm alone waiting for the next chair and this guy slides on from behind w/out a friendly "mind if I join you?" I'm the quiet type, rather not involve myself w negativity, it's where i plan my runs, meditate, or enjoy the sun and scenery, and probably miss out on some good peeps in the process, but it gets me through the day.
He asks immediately "where are you from? and says I'm from Wisconsin and moved here 20 years ago." It's the typical I'm a local and you're not opening. I'm thinking "flatlander and blowhard."
I say - "I live here." His reply "what part of California did you move from after covid?" That is NOT Wisconsin nice. My reply was "I became a resident of Idaho in 1976 and was a ski bum here in the 1980's. I sold Idaho potatoes and onions for a living and made many farmers a LOT of money." That shut him down for about 2 seconds. Then he started w I bet you'd like so and so, "they're communists", "excuse me!" Then I had to go down the list giving my opinion on person after person.
What a jerk for brining that crap up. Probably the worst ride of the season to date.
