I'm finding it really tiring trying to get everything back in order. It's puzzling me because I'm a fast go-getter.. something needs doing, I do it.. and I don't stop until it's done...but this is just overwhelming me a little bit , trying to find places..where things fit, and too many places despite there being many cupboards and shelves that most things are too big to go in.. .. ..so things are being done much slower than I would like.. and the longer it takes the less I want to do it...

At the same time, trying to work out how to use the new washing machine..of course it's all digital.. whereas for the last 15 years my machine has been turn the dial to where you want it, set the temp and then it does it for you... but this machine has so much more going on, and I did a whole load of washing and discovered it hadn't heated the water so everything was washed in cold water and the soap pods were still in one piece.. so nothing was really clean.

Couldn't find the manual anywhere so I rang LG, the manufacturers, and they emailed me a copy of the manual but it's still clear as mud to me...:p

Also , back in the kitchen my new cooker..is electric, I wanted electric after all my life of having gas because electric is cleaner, the stove is more easily kept clean etc..

Tonight I cooked my dinner on the new stove..My God it takes forever... I could have cooked 3 meals on a gas stove in the time the new one cooked bacon and eggs.. seriously... :D

So it's all shiny and new, but it's going to take me quite a time to get used to it...

Per above, KP blood test results already came back that shows all is about the same although a few over the last 3 years have been consistently just out of normal range though not changing, that my excellent hematologist says is fine.
well..that's very good news.. I think you had all of us more than a little concerned for a little while....

What's the prognosis?

I'd only consider going to Europe or NZ again, or traveling to AU or Asia, if I could take a trans-ocean cruise ship there and back. Having done a 14 night transatlantic from Spain to Galveston, I know it's an extremely relaxing way to travel! Heaven...
I would love to take a trans-Atlantic cruise, ideally a New York–Southampton trip on Cunard's Queen Mary 2.

@HoneyNut, check out a stopover in LA for a couple of days. Air New Zealand had wonderful service. They have some modified seats for economy fares. We had upgraded so it was nice being pampered. It wasn’t flat out, just being able to stretch out. It was still exhausting.

Once we were there we flew to Australia. It was unexpectedly a rather long flight. 4 plus hours as I recall. Then there were the flights within Australia. I loved it there.

We met of folks who flew much farther than we did to see family. I’d be really disappointed if my grandkids ever decided to move there. Lots of Canadian do and vice versa.

First I got this note regarding Sunday's ski outing-

“Conditions are primarily good - with the caveat that riders should be comfortable in variable snow conditions such as corn, packed powder, wind board, sections of ice and various low-tide obstacles on some of our lower elevation exit trails. We will encounter these conditions throughout the day, mostly on the entrances and exits to some of our zones. Essentially, we will not be skiing top to bottom waist-deep blower pow, but we are getting some really fun backcountry turns! You can look at our Instagram @soldiermountaincatski for the most up to date condition reports.”

low-tide obstacles meaning downed branches, and trees, boulders, rocks, bushes, etc. Also we would have very short runs meaning lots of taking skis off and on, loading/unloading them on the vehicle, getting in and out w ski boots on, and a good chance of damaging skis or injury.

Then a couple hours later got the word that the tracked vehicle was broken so we can reschedule.

That's a gift from Ullr!

Nothing seems to come with a manual these days. Looks like you have to scan a QR code to get to a website where you can't find anything useful. Our new LG TV has no manual and it's taken ages to figure it out.. The Bosch washing machine could be very complicated if you used all the unnecessary features, but the shop guy said to ignore them and just use the preset buttons. I wonder how many people actually want a text to tell them that the wash had finished ?
At least our most excellent Meile washing machine is pretty intuitive and does a great job.

Good morning from the bitterly cold state of missouri,,,,,,,1 Deg F outside, and
this old house is about 68F with furnace running full tilt....snow of about 1/2 inch

@againstthegrain, as I was looking at the weather map of the heavy snow hitting so much of the US, it made me think of the Sun Valley. Our ski hills around here are desperate for snow too. Truthfully, I don’t miss it but would like to the skiers and the economy to be happy.
Yes, our poor landscapers/snow removal workers are having a disastrous winter.

I just got rid of a Bosch washing machine.. and this one is a high tech LG... ...I can't actually see any pre-set button on this one.. or that would be very easy..

At least my new Samsung Fridge freezer seems to be working as it should..touch wood... all shiny and new....

G'afternoon peeps of SF... 🙋‍♀️

Today its sunny finally .🌤️.. after a week of rain...

I wanted to go to Costco but that's a piece of madness on a Saturday so I'll leave it until Monday or Tuesday...

Stuff to be done around here to keep me busy ..and there's a lot I want to donate and or take to the recycle as well. Now I have a smaller car than my previous one... which doesn't have much boot space... it means several trips... but hopefully I'll work through that all during next week

have the best day you can folks...🌺

@hollydolly, I meant to say yesterday that the washing machine you described sounds a lot like the one my older daughter and her husband have. It has more than 20 options, I'd say. I personally find it mystifying and prefer the traditional turn-the-dial ones that have only a handful of buttons. Luckily, they have all their preferred settings chosen already.

I also got thrown off the first time I used it because apparently you don't set a water level: The machine can apparently sense the amount of items and adjusts the level automatically. I think it's a Maytag.

And those QR code options, especially when that is the only choice offered, irk me, too, @Capt Lightning.

I'm getting ready to head out to my weekly AA meeting, and this afternoon I'm volunteering at a fundraiser for one of our members, who is battling cancer. Like so many other states, it's particularly cold here right now, just 17 below 0 right now.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

I feel for you! Seven years ago, I purchased a new washer and dryer. Two years ago, a new refrigerator. I made a point to the sales lady that I did not want anything digital and NO front loading washer because they always develop a moldy odor, which was transferred to the "clean" clothes. Try to find a washer with a lid that doesn't lock and that doesn't weigh the load to determine how much water it will use. I have had clothes come out with areas that were completely dry.

Fridge had to be ordered, none like that in stock. Remember ice trays? With a box-like container to hold the ice? Yep. I don't mind at all.

So very glad I did that. Easy to use, work just fine, and less to break down.

My current stove/range is one of those older electric glass cooktops. I like it because it is easy to clean. You are right, though; it does take longer to cook anything. For about five years, I used one of those portable, one-burner induction cooktops. LOVED IT! Fast, easy to use and clean. My next stove, hopefully, will be induction. They are pricey so will have to wait until other projects are finished.

Relocating items to new storage areas is always a challenge. Even a bigger challenge when, later, you try to find an item. One foot in front of the other; your new utility room is beautiful! Once it's all done, everything put away, you will be so happy with it. Maybe you are already.

In the uk, front loaders are the go to machines.. top loaders were the machines of our childhood. I've never known a front loader to get a smell, but it's important that the rubber seal is cleaned and dried after every wash...

Talking of ice trays.. this fridge freezer is of course high spec, frost free... ... but I couldn't believe it when I found this tiny little ice cube tray taped to the inside... I don't know what you 'd use those tiny ice cubes for... :ROFLMAO:

You're absolutely right with regard to finding things after relocating them.. and after a few times yesterday of hunting for stuff I'd put away... I had a 💡 ...and took photos of the interior of every cupboard.. so now until I get used to it all, I'll just click on a photo to see where anything is... 😀 save me a lot of stress and time

Morning all, when I woke up at 6:30 looked out my living room window, flag was still, knew it was cold 0, windchill -4. When I came downstairs, noticed the Sat papers were at our front door, once again overnight maintenance guy didn't deliver them,God knows why. Sometimes I'll find them on the lobby desk, so I decided to deliver them, starting on 6th floor down to 1st floor took me 20 min
The sun is up and bright its going to be a bitter cold day high 10,my exercise for the day will be walking the hallway. I have no plans, read my book see what today's lunch& dinner menu is offering
On TV tonight at 8pm on BBC America ,David Attenborough has a new 6 part series' Kingdom' which follows 4 African animal families, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs&lions in a remote river valley in Zambia. I like watching his series
Everybody have a good day,

Sue...on the subject of David Attenborough... did you know that his daughter jane was killed in the 2004 Thailand Tsunami ?

She was 49, she would have been 70 today had she lived... he has 2 other adult children......David is now 98 years old....

Good morning everyone. It is 59 now and will be 73 today. We will get the freezing weather next week.

We will be going to town to do some things we need to do. One stop at the grocery store to get some produce as the shopper online do not select what we want most of the time.

Stay safe and warm to all of you in cold areas. :)

Genius idea on photographing what you put where! DH did that this year before taking down some of the Christmas decorations.

Regarding modern appliances. I had a washer with electronic controls and absolutely hated it. When my in-laws died, I laid claim to my MIL's washing machine. Mechanical with a spin dial. I've had it about 7 years and who knows how long MIL had it before me. Works like a charm. Dials to select water temp, load size (s-m-l) and washing cycle type. My spin dial dryer has to be 20-25 years old.

When my neighbor passed away seven years ago, I helped her (3000 mile away) heirs manage the sale. They sold the house to a flipper who didn't buy the appliances with the house.

My kitchen fridge was starting to misbehave and new ones were pricey and overloaded with electronics, so I asked if I could take hers - it was only a couple of years old and not overly whiz-bang. They were happy to give it to me and it still works perfectly. Automatic ice maker, ice and water in the door, and fits perfectly into fridge space in my kitchen.

If I choose to stay home, I'm fine with it because if I change my mind later in the day, I can jump up and go somewhere. If I'm forced by weather, ice, etc., to stay in - especially for 3 days in a row, I get very depresssed. I'm not one to just sit back, relax, put on a movie, and take it all in stride, so it would not work for me to live in areas where weather is in control much of the time.
