2026 Edition: How's Your Day(s)? What Did You Do? Go Anywhere?

I got the laundry done this morning. It was an easier laundry day because my son was also doing his, so he took my clothes down for me and also brought them back up when they finished washing. We went down there around 4:30. He always dries his downstairs and I use my dryer.

Stick with one set of sheets!

If you have several sets then you will end up with several sets in the laundry.

I strip the bed the day I do laundry and put them right back, never more than one set of sheets in the laundry! 😉🤭😂
This is my philosophy too. I keep an older set stored away just in case there’s a problem - like having the flu and being too ill to deal with sheets.

I finally made my plain loaf of bread today, which I had intended to do over the weekend. It came out good, but when I cut it, it starts to shred and this time I followed the recipe exactly. I spent some time on Ancestry today. My good friend "Tee" whom I call Li'l Sis has been instrumental (pardon the pun) in producing my music videos, building my family tree and helping me understand all of that genealogy stuff. I'm still overwhelmed by it plus haven't been able to find information about my maternal grandfather. :sneaky:

One interesting thing that happened is that a 3rd - 6th cousin on my paternal side messaged me. Ancestry didn't narrow it down, Tee thinks due to the DNA markers, he's likely a 3rd cousin. Doesn't much matter to me. We don't do that 3rd cousin twice removed stuff.... in my family if you're blood, you're blood. Anyway, he's quite a talented singer as evidenced by his YouTube video.

I dug some of the household supplies and TP out of the storage closet and put them where they are more easily accessible. I loaded and ran the dishwasher, updated our budget spreadsheets and played games on the phone. I also made a couple of calls and watched my two favorite shows on Disney+/Hulu. This evening I ordered more items from Amazon for Deja and me to use up my $71 gift card balance.

Thank you. I'm going to "get back on the horse" and try again. I'll let you know how the next one turns out. In fact, I hope the next try looks like a loaf of bread so I won't be embarrassed to post it. I feel that it will be good enough that I'll never have to pay $5 again for one slice at Starbucks. I love the pumpkin bread they sell.

Today I finally cleaned and disinfected the medicine cabinet. Dust and debris from the new vent fan install got inside. Anticipating that would happen, I emptied it out before the contractor came last week. The day after it was installed, the boss sent his worker to finish sealing around the new fan and paint that area. They do excellent work.

I loaded the dishwasher late last night and ran it this afternoon. I also refilled two and a half pill cases. I was using out of my emergency case and had only three and a half days left. I don't like to let it get that low. Also, I tried to get through to a pharmacy rep when I called Optum because I noticed one of my meds that I wanted to refill is missing from my account. I called twice because I had to deal with the AI guy and the press 1 or 2, etc options were not ones I needed.

I finally got to speak to someone, but she couldn't help me. I gave up and went to my doctors' portal and requested a refill there. I'm glad they've improved their system so I could do it. Now I'm going to call my granddaughter to wish her a happy birthday, heat spring rolls for dinner and watch TV.

Have a good, restful night everyone.
I just loaded the dishwasher and turned it on.
I use CVS and they won't deliver. It's been too cold to walk up there . I am going to find a way to get my prescriptions delivered.
Happy sleep time!

Shopping day - get picked up get dropped off and whizzed around town if I need. I did need a pair of black shoelaces - easy you say ? - not in our town! - but our patient driver cruised around and with her memory and mine found the last shop in town [pysically and metophorically] with black shoe laces - one problem they were extra long - workpersons boots size - i took them and will now manipulate!!

I had my annual physical this morning, and doc ordered a Dexa scan. After I got home, I got online to schedule it when what to my wondering eyes did appear but an appointment available at 2...today! Woohoo. That's out of the way.

We stopped at Aldi on the way back so I could stock up on gelato. It occurred to me when we got home that if Icemageddon really does happen here, it won't stay frozen. I might have to eat gelato all day on Sunday because we wouldn't want it to go bad. Right?

If we get the dreaded ice, it'll probably be Sunday morning. Sigh.

Just a relaxing day. It's too cold 🥶 to go outside. I'm also having pains in my legs. It seems to be nerve pain. I think it's muscle pain too.I'm going to take a warm bath 🛁 I will probably put my icepack on my legs.
Re: CVS not delivering. That's a bummer and I'm surprised by that. I hope you find a pharmacy that will deliver. The state contracts with Optum Rx mail pharmacy for it's employees and retirees, so that's my main pharmacy. I only use local ones if I need a stat prescription and even the last one I used delivers.

Also, I hope your pains go away. When I do have pains or cramps, which thankfully isn't that often, I use heat. I can't imagine putting something cold on my body then. But I think that's became when I used to get cramps in my toes (before I started taking potassium supplements) heat was what always stopped the cramping within a couple of minutes.

@Georgiagranny How nice that you were able to get an appointment the same day! How often does that happen! Now about that gelato. If it's frozen outside, wouldn't you be able to just keep it outside (in a plastic bag, of course)? Not trying to rain on your parade about eating it all up. :D

After Swiffering the floor, scooping the litter box and getting the garbage ready for my son to take out, I went downstairs and did laundry at 12:30 a.m. My son had just gotten in from the movies and warned me that it was very cold out (it was... 6 degrees). But I had to get it done, so he took the bag down for me. Being I was layered and only outside a couple of minutes each time, it wasn't so bad.

Though my friends have expressed concern about me going down in the middle of the night, I love it because nobody is in my way, it's quiet and I relax and play a game until the main wash starts. While I waited for the clothes to finish, I did a few quick but necessary things.

After I got back upstairs, I ate a snack, fell asleep and woke up around 9:30. My BFF called and we talked for a while before I fed "Little Girl" (Deja) and had breakfast. I don't run my dryer in the middle of the night, so didn't start drying right away. It's almost 2:30 p.m. and the last part and heaviest pieces of the load are drying. If I'm feeling particularly ambitious, I might even put away the items that don't get hung up away today. Today I just finished putting the ones from a week ago...today. Since the real feel may be somewhere between 1 and 6 degrees, I haven't made up my mind if I'm going over to HS#3's for his broadcast tonight.

I was just thinking of getting my heat pad out. I have a good one. I guess it can't hurt. Thanks for that 💡 idea

My brother called me today and so that made my day better. He has back problems too. We chatted quite a lot. He's a good brother; all my brothers are nice guys.

Now I am thinking what will I have for dinner.

Hello. My life is hard enough with illnesses and being alone. I am very troubled by my neighbors, they harrass me every day for wanting peace and quiet. They stomp on the floor and swear at me. The walls are paper thin. They became aware of me not liking heavy stomping because as a last resort I hit the ceiling with a broom. They got 10 times worse. They also eavesdrop and they can hear me on the phone and they think I am talking about them. They think I'm horrible for using the broom.

I just really need to vent. I am lookin for senior housing but they have a wait list a year long. About now I feel like geting a hotel room in a safe place of course., I can't apply for the housing till the weather breaks but honestly I cannot stand these hateful people or this place anymore. It used to be a good place but not any more and I've been here 13.5 years.

I am so sorry you are going through this Ruthanne. I know what it's like to have a noisy neighbor. Shortly after I moved here almost 55 years ago, there was a nurse who had two small children. She also had friends who had small children. Sometimes the noise they made was unbearable. I reported her to the board, but they did nothing. Someone said I should call the police, but I really didn't want to do that. One night I was sleeping and right up over my bed, it sounded like someone dropped a big box of heavy books hard on the floor. Blam!!

I started looking for another apartment, but the rent was so much more than what we paid for our carrying charges here and I was "Poor Girl" back then. My father suggested I move to a new complex, but it's in an area that even back then, wasn't so good. It's worse now, so glad I don't live there. I decided to tough it out and she finally moved out. I found out years later that she had died at a fairly young age. The neighbors who moved in had two boys around my son's age. You'd think young boys would be noisy, but they hardly made any noise at all and I was so grateful.

Maybe the list will move fast and you'll get in sooner than expected so you can get away from those terrible people!

Sorry for the late reply, but he has a bit of a Luther Vandross vibe about him. You come from a musically talented family!

I'm so sorry @Ruthanne. I do hope you find another place to live. No one should have to endure nasty neighbors. 🫂

Today I put away items that had accumulated on our dresser, then dusted and polished it. The dresser had what I call "the creeps". I also put away more of the laundry I did over the weekend. I was tired by then, so I'll put away the rest tomorrow (maybe). I used alcohol wipes to disinfect some of the items I put away and the new turban I'm wearing to my son's wedding.

I started the process of making my body wash, played the usual array of games on my phone to keep the cobwebs out of my brain and actually finished watching Leave The World Behind, a movie on Netflix, within 24 hours.
