What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

I think Doris Day was underrated as an actress. She got plenty of recognition as a singer, but she generally wasn't taken too seriously as a fine actress. I suppose it was because of the comedy films she did. I thought her work in The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), and Midnight Lace (1960) was first rate.

Drama acting aside, I thought Pillow Talk (1959) was one of the great romantic comedies. It still cracks me up today.
I am very fond of That Touch of Mink with Doris Day, Cary Grant, Audrey Meadows & Gig Young. Among other, it reminds me of treasured childhood memories of Automats in Manhattan.

Last night I watched Lilly on Netflix. Based on the true story of Lilly Ledbetter, an American woman who sued Goodyear Tires because she was discriminated against and paid far less than her male counterparts.

I thought it was excellent as did several friends who'd highly recommended it to me.
I agree, this was a great movie. Painful to watch what this woman had to endure.

I awoke early in the morning and turned on the telly.
The 1979 film, Hair was on and I immediately disliked what I saw.
The character, Claude, was, the main player in the film?
What I saw was George, he seemed to be the main player, and I took a dislike to him from the start.
He seemed to me a bully who was manipulating Claude, and because of that Claude was a greatly diminished person.
I could not watch this film to the end as it was cringe.
I am sure I would never have joined the Hippie class if I was around at the time.

We watched the movie Equilibrium staring Christian Bale this evening on Prime Video. It's just another one of those movies where one good guy can defeat dozens of bad guys in one battle after another. Why do they wait their turn before they try to shoot him? It's ridiculous!

Joe vs the Volcano

I love Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks together on screen.

I forgot the cameo appearances by Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Abe Vigoda

This of course is a ridiculous, lame movie but enjoyable as a study of the two actors careers.

It is available on Tubi.TV for free viewing (with commercials, of course).

In the Fade, on Prime Video. Excellent movie!
Out of nowhere, Katja’s life falls apart when her husband Nuri and little son Rocco are killed in a bomb attack. Her friends and family try to give her the support she needs, and Katja somehow manages to make it through the funeral. But the mind numbing search for the perpetrators and reasons behind the senseless killing complicate Katja’s painful mourning, opening wounds and doubts. Danilo, a lawyer and Nuri’s best friend, represents Katja in the eventual trial against the two suspects: a young couple from the neo-Nazi scene. The trial pushes Katja to the edge, but there’s simply no alternative for her: she wants justice.

I like movies about revenge.
Nice that you included a synop. Sounds interesting.

The Night Eats the World.
Supposedly a Zombie Movie.
I found this movie to be boring in the extreme. Most shots were dark, mostly using still shots.
Certainly nothing scary about it.
My recommendation? Give it a miss. less than 1 star.

It still cracks me up, too. That scene in the dinner with Tony Randall is simply hilarious.

I thought Meg really showed some great talent playing the three different women. I always laugh/cry when Joe gets the dire news and then stops and hugs the woman's dog.

Meg's a really good actress. If you've ever watched When A Man Loves A Woman, it shows.
She was one of my favorites. Unfortunately for her, she made poor career choices like trying to get away from her romantic comedy roles, and changing her appearance, which didn't go over well. It's sad, because she had the talent, and could have gone a long way. She tried a comeback in 2023 with "What Happens Later," about 2 people snowed in at an airport overnight. It's mostly conversation, and got only mediocre reviews.

It seems to me that she did a few Rom Coms with other actors and it just didn't capture the magic of Tom Hanks. I like When Harry Met Sally even though I didn't think there was a real good chemistry with Billy Crystal. I think it made sense why they weren't getting along as characters in the film.

I've been bingeing on Hallmark movies lately. I'll find an actor or actress that I like and watch several of their movies.

Most recently, I've been watching Rachel Skarsten movies. I really liked "The Royal Nanny," in which she is a special agent who becomes a nanny to the royal family to protect them. She is smart, athletic, and uses her umbrella resourcefully.

The second movie she acts in is "The Christmas Charade." In this movie, she is a librarian but ends up working with an FBI agent (Corey Sevier). Lots of suspense. This woman has many talents (studied literature and dance), and it shows in these movies; she's a problem-solver and a good dancer. A surprise twist in the end raises it to another level.

These two movies felt a cut above the typical Hallmark movies. Searching for more...
