Another brisk day at 7°F w a slight breeze. Made a few laps, but legs are tired on day 26 of the season. Yesterday the Frenchman's chairlift broke down and people needed to be evacuated. They were lowered from the chair to the ground by rope and harness. In one instance it took an hour and 10 minutes after the lift stopped to get down, some may have waited even longer.

I always glance at the sleds to remind myself of the risk on my way by the Patrol Shack. Not sure why the flag is at 1/2 staff.

Thank you. Fortunately they were mid-mountain out of the wind and in the sun. It's absolutely frigid in the shade. Hopefully they didn't have to pee!

@againstthegrain, that reminds me of one of my favorite movies, where three college students get stuck on a chairlift at a ski mountain that is open only on weekends. It's actually pretty good!

@hawkdon, I'm glad you got your door un-stuck! I had to use a hair dryer to un-freeze one of my windows one time. It had gotten stuck open, and temperatures were falling fast.

Busy day today! I worked hard and got two assignments completed and sent out, then I met a friend for coffee. I stopped by the grocery store on the way home, and I have one more assignment to finish before I can kick back for an hour or so before going to bed.

I hope everyone had—or is having, depending on where you are—a good day.

Guys dya remember DD's Little puppy Lenny ? ..she calls him Lenny the Loon because he's into everything as he would be as a 6 month old pup, and just enjoys everything...

lenny-cute-2.jpg

so she made this poster...
At the top are the names in memory of the beloved dogs we lost on the same day 2 years ago.. Stan, & Digger as they were PTS together :cry:and at the bottom she's signed off as made in the Pixielicious studios... which is the name of her 15 year old Chihuahua who is Lenny's mentor and surrogate mother

Per above post, spent several hours mis-processing the first 3 of my GoPro 11 in several ways, until I got it correct. Then recorded a short process of notes to do so and have since knocked off 9 with 8 more left I should work through tomorrow. Various online shotcut directions for performing various operations are rather pathetic mainly because many people on the web today (especially on YouTube) have poor teaching skill abilities to explain how to do things to others without basic knowledge.

A common problem regardless of intelligence due to not understanding how to explain technical things to others that lack even basic knowledge of how to do something. Most common is using terms for objects or processes that mean nothing to those others. In this era at least one can web search to understand what they were referring to. Something teachers must learn but many others never.

When I worked in engineering that was a continual issue with all manner of documentation and data books as many even intelligent educated persons cannot adequately put themselves easily in the position of those that understand far less.

Morning all, I decided to go outside for a brief walk at 6:50, temp was 8 windchill -10,1st time since last Fri.I wore a fleece which covers my entire head, its similar to ones hunters wear.I walked the driveway and adjoining sidewalks a couple of times. Yes, it was cold but I was happy to get some fresh air
My plan today, today at 10:30 attend monthly dining room comm meeting. This afternoon at 1 go with 2 other residents in Gates van{ have to sign up ahead of time} to local grocery store,Wegmans.{ Alex our cultural arts co ordinator, she puts all the events on our monthly calendar} she takes residents every Tues to Wegmans. Got training this morning and perhaps my wife will give me a haircut this afternoon. The winter routine is finally settled after a rough start due to the wx, travel, and the flu. I'm skiing 4x week, training 2x, and taking a rest day to recover. 1 day recovery per week isn't enough but I'll push through.

Rescheduled our day of skiing at Soldier Mtn for late February, hopefully it dumps btwn now and then, however the next 10 days there is no snow forecast. :(

I hope you can Don!

Good morning everyone. It is cold here at 29 degrees. It will be 54 today, which is cold here and most people dress in winter clothes.

I had my delivery from the grocery store and the young man was polite and brought everything I ordered. He was dressed for cold weather.

Now I must get busy and do some house chores.

Stay well everyone and please keep warm and safe in the bad weather states. 🤗

Thanks Rose, I am curious to know if anyone has experience with an outfit
called Patriot Angels ???? Had a call from them, ref the search for assisted
living, they are supposedly an adjunct to the VA, and can get you extra funds
for housing!?!?! Appreciate any info.....don

Finally got all my plants either covered or put in the house in preperation of the coming cold snap. I refuse to let my winter tomato's die off because of freezing temps.
On a side note, I just enjoyed one of my home grown grapefruits... and it was delicious and juicy. (y)

Your tomato plants are VERY impressive, SD!

Today was the senior social at the community center. I even called them to ask if it had been cancelled and they said it was on. I was the only one that showed up besides the supervisor. We decided, "What's the point?" Not worth it to put out the goodies for one person and BINGO was pointless. He allowed me to take one BINGO prize from the table for just showing up, so I got a bottle of vanilla body lotion. You can't have enough lotion in the winter.

So beautiful!

Evening peeps of SF....🙋‍♀️

It's now 7.30pm.. and I've had a very busy day today... just made the last phone call of the day hopefully....

It's been raining all day. I drove 2 towns away to the supermarket to stock up on grcoeries.. first chance I've had since the new fridge freezer was installed... I've not been shopping for food for 10 days, so everything was getting low.

I also went to the big box housewares store as well and got some matching things for the new utility.. Black granite counter protector etc...

I had quite a few heavy things to carry, and had to negotiate a long flight of stairs to reach the checkouts, so I was struggling a little bit...and a kind man , another shopper, helped me take them down ... and when I got to the checkouts there was a big queue.. so I had to put the things on the floor and just nudge them along with my foot.. and a young guy in front of me in the queue, helped me put them all on the checkout belt.... it was a day of Knights in shining armour.... :D

It's a joy now to not have to bend down to get into the fridge any more.. as I've done for many years...fridge always on the bottom.. freezer on top... soI made a delberate choice when buying this new Samsung one, to have the fridge on top... and it really saves my back when putting groceries away...

I've had nothing to eat all day..I left the house having had only a half cup of tea.... so I;ve got to go now and make some food... might make Haggis tonight because I missed the last day which was today of the week long Rabbie Burns celebrations at the pub... where they cook haggis, neeps and Tatties with whisky sauce..( i don't have the whisky)..and it's delicious...

So..having missed that this year , I bought some Haggis today.. and some Swede (neeps)...

When I got back home I had a several more things that neeed doing... and I still haven't been able to get the recycle centre yet either.. that'll have to wait for another dry day...

Off to make food before I fall down..lol...

Funny how something simple can morph into a complete furniture re-arranging.
So, today the wife's new recliner is on it's way. Have to replace the old (non power) one with this ziipy power everything model. First, drag old chair into bedroom. Then, set up new chair... after re-arranging the other duel recliners... (can't leave the fur babies on the floor). ;) Now, wife remembers how I've been complaining about how my bed is no longer comfortable. Hey, let's remove your bed and place the other recliner (not the one I just moved), oh no, she means the other one in the spare bedroom. Did I mention, we have 7 recliners o_O.

Well, in order to use the spare bedroom recliner, first I have to move the oh so heavy hospital bed from my room. Drag it into the spare room and drag the chair back to my room. Of course, I have to re-arrange both the spare bedroom and my room. (make sure my Southern Comfort is within reach). Now, I have to hope my fur baby adapts to the chair instead of a bed.

Then, the new chair shows up. 3 huge boxes. brought them inside. Open up... and WHT, there's 2 bottoms and one top. Emailed them and they said whoops, just keep the extra bottom. Great... now the wife is looking at this extra gift and said, "why not put this bottom with your old chair's top"? Now, more work for my aching back.

All this, plus, I had to go out and add a heat light to my well because now they're saying it will be down to 23 degree's tonite and tomorrow. That meant some extra covers for the vulnerable plants and another heat light for the tomato's. I refuse to let this weather get them. Sure hope this chair in my room is comfy. :)

Got the "wellness interview" done.
We each got a card /credit for $15.00.

Went to local grocery in town & used one card.
Some of the items I needed were marked down.

Home again, watching the wind blow snow a round.

Went out to fill the bird feeders.
BRRRR ,,,,,,,,my fingers got cold, even in what appears to be a warm glove.

Saw bird feathers on porch,, guess one of the cats caught a bluejay.

Hope everyone is warm & safe,,not ill.
