I have more pressing priorities than trying to figure out that mess.then you will never understand politics in the ME?

I don't see this ending quickly, enduringly, or well.Update
Coalition forces are in position and each knows their directive.
The US is the offensive force with Israel as back-up and support.
The UK will defend the UK, the Commonwealth, and Israel, and US bases in the ME.
Jordan will remain poised to intercept IRGC missiles toward Israel.
The UAE is poised to defend itself and regional military bases, and protect the Red Line. (i.e., keep US from taking off from their military bases within the UAE. They're tiny and can't afford to become a target)
In short…
Offense: US with Israel playing second string.
Defense: the UK.
Tight-ends: Jordan and the UAE.
It will end more quickly than it would if nobody did anything. I believe reports that say well over 30,000 people have been killed.I don't see this ending quickly, enduringly, or well.
I hope you're right, but I have reservations about it all. I suspect that because of the religion involved, there will be a constant guerrilla war fought against whoever may be elected by the populace. It will end more quickly than it would if nobody did anything. Iran's Prince (living in the US since his father was exiled) and the president of Israel have talked frequently since this uprising started. Israel vows to help Prince Pahlavi through a 1 year transition period to stabilize Iran's economy, rebuild key infrastructure, and reopen trade. Meanwhile the Prince will appoint a new parliament to write a new constitution and prepare Iran for it's first democratic election in 50 years. It will be a parliamentary monarchy at least until that first election, when the people decide by a majority vote what type of government they want.
That's the plan, anyway. And I imagine the US will build a military base there to offer defense and training until Iran rebuilds it's forces.
I'm optimistic.
In any case, the regime is cooked. It's done already. The coalition just needs to root out the baddies.
Since the Iranian people want a return to a constitution that includes Freedom of Religion, open elections, and term limits, I see no reason for gorilla warfare over religion or leadership.I hope you're right, but I have reservations about it all. Please note I said, "the religion involved", not any old religion, but just the one. The one that calls itself peaceful, yet is responsible for just about all terrorism in the world today. For that reason I think that the whole civilian population will have to come together and keep that particular religion under control, or all hell will break out again, just as it did in 1979, and is happening now to the unarmed protesters.Since the Iranian people want a return to a constitution that includes Freedom of Religion, open elections, and term limits, I see no reason for gorilla warfare over religion or leadership.
religion raises its ugly head again then? Please note I said, "the religion involved", not any old religion, but just the one.
