On day 10 of the Iranian revolution, the Ayatollah has fled

Update

Coalition forces are in position and each knows their directive.

The US is the offensive force with Israel as back-up and support.
The UK will defend the UK, the Commonwealth, and Israel, and US bases in the ME.
Jordan will remain poised to intercept IRGC missiles toward Israel.
The UAE is poised to defend itself and regional military bases, and protect the Red Line. (i.e., keep US from taking off from their military bases within the UAE. They're tiny and can't afford to become a target)

In short…

Offense: US with Israel playing second string.

Defense: the UK.

Tight-ends: Jordan and the UAE.
I don't see this ending quickly, enduringly, or well.

It will end more quickly than it would if nobody did anything. I believe reports that say well over 30,000 people have been killed.

Iran's Prince (living in the US since his father was exiled) and the president of Israel have talked frequently since this uprising started. Israel vows to help Prince Pahlavi through a 1 year transition period to stabilize Iran's economy, rebuild key infrastructure, and reopen trade. Meanwhile the Prince will appoint a new parliament to write a new constitution and prepare Iran for it's first democratic election in 50 years. It will be a parliamentary monarchy at least until that first election, when the people decide by a majority vote what type of government they want.

That's the plan, anyway. And I imagine the US will build a military base there to offer defense and training until Iran rebuilds it's forces.

I'm optimistic.

In any case, the regime is cooked. It's done already. The coalition just needs to root out the baddies.

I hope you're right, but I have reservations about it all. I suspect that because of the religion involved, there will be a constant guerrilla war fought against whoever may be elected by the populace.

Since the Iranian people want a return to a constitution that includes Freedom of Religion, open elections, and term limits, I see no reason for gorilla warfare over religion or leadership.

Please note I said, "the religion involved", not any old religion, but just the one. The one that calls itself peaceful, yet is responsible for just about all terrorism in the world today. For that reason I think that the whole civilian population will have to come together and keep that particular religion under control, or all hell will break out again, just as it did in 1979, and is happening now to the unarmed protesters.

religion raises its ugly head again then?

Today:

The US President, Israeli Prime Minister, and Saudi King are currently in the War Room at the White House along with US and Israeli intelligence directors and military leaders. They have to assume the IRGC will do a pre-emptive attack against Israel, and prepare for it.

The US moved a 3rd massive carrier and strike group into position in (or near) the Persian Gulf.

Bombers are on their way.

The IRGC has warned they will close The Strait of Hormuz “with live firing” and seize all the oil tankers.

China and Russia announced they will do a “joint naval exercise” with the IRGC in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean this weekend.

And early this week, the EU’s foreign policy chief finally designated the Ayatollah’s revolutionary guard corps as a terrorist organization.

If this escalates into a war between the Iran/Russia/China group versus Israel, the USA and Europe, prepare for WW 3 and BILLIONS of deaths. We haven't had a world war since 1945. This could be the human species returning to bad habits and this war could last for many, many years. These days the planet is filled with deadly hydrogen bombs and laser borne satellites. Everyone dies anyway at some time so the death of billions will just be escalated into a short time frame.

Oh boy, things are sure heating up.
For the life of me, I can't understand why the UK will not declare that the IRGC is a terrorist organisation, yet they are going to back the US joint offensive.
Is Starmer really that stupid?
