Estimated power restoration Sunday, Feb 1.
I guess Sunday beats the “poke in the eye with a sharp icicle “.
Are you good until then without having to get to the store or propane dealer?

We've already seen significant ice melting in Dallas. Did you know that ice can melt under the sun even when the temps are below freezing? It's 21°F at 10 AM my time and that's about as "warm" as we will see today - going to 14°F tonight, then hopefully it will go above freezing tomorrow afternoon sometime. It helps psychologically that it's a clear, sunny day, but the sun will produce no warming today. Schools are closed and no one is outside. I'm simmering a pot of pinto beans to have later with a chicken breast, tomatoes and brocolli that's cooking in the crock pot.

The news was talking about that last night. Late in the afternoon, I noticed some drips off the eaves of the house. Overnight it refroze and streets are probably quite slick this morning (8 AM as I write). Might get to 40 degrees today - I won't be going out. We've already seen significant ice melting in Dallas. Key Reasons Ice Melts Below Freezing:
- Direct Solar Radiation: Sunlight passes through the air and directly warms dark surfaces like asphalt, roads, and rooftops, melting the ice from the bottom up.
- Sublimation: Strong sunlight can skip the melting phase entirely, causing solid ice to turn directly into water vapor.
- Surface Absorption: While snow reflects90% of solar energy, the 10% it absorbs can still raise its temperature to the melting point.
and listening to the radio waiting to hear school was closed..After everything was closed yesterday, almost everything is back in business today. Just a few schools here and there.
This brings back memories of some doozy snow storms back in the 1960s when several feet would fall in a storm.
I don’t see anything in the photos you addedWe've already seen significant ice melting in Dallas. Did you know that ice can melt under the sun even when the temps are below freezing?

A Nashville Tennessee family was told by their HOA they couldn't use a generator during a snow/ice caused power outage. They considered it a fire hazard. The family said they kept it outside. And were inviting those in without power to warm up with electric heaters they bought. After they informed a news station that contacted the HOA they were allowed to use it.
Family says HOA told them they couldn’t use their generator during ice storm blackout: ‘It’s unbearable’
Probably safer than a kerosine heater or two. They said the generator, cords and heaters cost them about 1,100 dollars.
Among other things, I saw that on my local news this afternoon
The HOA beatch also said it made too much noise. Roo- ells are roo-ells you know. Better you freeze to death than raise the noise decibel level near where you live,
.
There were a couple of other incidents that were equally as disgusting. The One Percenters are alive and well -—

Geez, what a creep!Philadelphia snow plow driver caught on video mocking residents as he plows snow on their parked cars. City released a statement saying cars plowed in might be a consequence of normal plowing operations. But the video makes it seem intentional.
Laughing Philadelphia worker ‘intentionally’ plows snow onto parked cars after Winter Storm Fern in viral video: ‘Happy snow day, motherf–kers’
This time an idiot with a snow plow blade records or post their stupidity for all to see.
