First names you find weird, strange 😉

We had a few very different names of men join us in the military. I have one name that I never thought that I would ever see a man carry this name as his moniker. I’ve seen dogs, even cats named this, but never a man. I’ve seen a horse named this, but never a man.

The name was Zeus. In college, we studied about a pantheon of Greek deities. Zeus was considered to be the King of the Olympian Gods. Zeus was the youngest son of two Titans: Cronus and Rhea.
Ruling from Mount Olympus, he was the God of thunder and lightning. Normally, I don’t take to mythological Gods, but this
God of myth always reminded me of…..Superman. Who else? He was immortal to many that believed in him.
Even though I often thought about what a wrestling match between Zeus and Superman would look like, I had to finally
acquiesce and admit Zeus could win any match with anyone any time, even Hulk Hogan.

Oh, this occurred to me- your screen name probably isn't your actual name, but one of my kids went to school with a girl whose first name was September.
no it isnt. I haven't much imagination, it was just the month I joined the forum

I have heard of August as a name although never come across any in person

and of course April, May and June which are well known month names

Some of the first names I heard are so bizarre, that I just wonder if perhaps they are the result of a bunch scabble tiles tossed out to see what one can come up with. In our family my wife want to name each of our children so that their initials matched mine. I'm okay with that but I wanted them to have a first name that they would use daily rather than a shortened version.

I went to school with a girl named Mary ____________. At the start of our senior year, she got married but stayed in school. She married a guy named Joe Virgin. The school policy was that you remained in the school records under your maiden name until you graduated.

So comes the yearbook..... Another school policy was that married girls were listed under their maiden names with their married names in parenthesis. Thus, she was listed as Mary __________ (Virgin). The joke going around was that she was obviously the only virgin in the school and a special category was created for her.

Of course, another funny was that their names were now: Virgin, Mary and Joseph.

I was actually looking at the yearbook last month and had a giggle about the name.
