Chain of custody and contamination issues galore but if helps get Nancy back good. I hope they photographed where and how they found it.

This also could lead to time consuming dead end leads. But this is the type of searching that should've been done with in the first days.

sadly, if this was really about money. I think this would have been resolved.
I think it is telling her video shows they are aware they may not be getting her back alive. it was also classy that they gave money to a missing person organization and want more attention on all cases of a missing person.

I agree. I commented early on that I fear Miss Nancy was “gone” in the first 12 hours..

Yes - I just now saw the recording, and her exact words included this: "for any information that leads to her recovery." That is a very serious annoucement that should be carefully worded. I can't imagine any attorney advising her to phrase it that way.

That was addressed on GMA this morning:

”It’s understood the Guthrie family had discussed the offer of their own reward from first day of the police investigation and have waited until now to go public with their offer to avoid overwhelming law enforcement personnel with field leads as they continue their active search. The Guthrie family, having coordinated closely with the FBI, is also offering a reward “up to” $1 million as more than one valid claim in helping find Nancy Guthrie could eventually be split. And the reward offer is not contingent on an eventual arrest or prosecution as the family seeks information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery.”

Also, as a sidebar, I see it has never been mentioned on these threads that Savannah IS an attorney, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown. I’m pretty sure the lawyer side of her weighed every option, whether it was the correct decision or not.

Thanks, Imogene. I recognize that was for me, even though you chose not to use the reply button. I didn't know she was an attorney, yet I'm surprised she didn't clarify her statement. Otherwise, if someone simply finds the body, that alone would make them eligible to receive the reward.

No, it wasn’t directed at you. But now that I re-read your comment, I can see why you would think that. Please don’t be offended in either direction

I wanted to bring up Savanna’s law schooling early on and kept forgetting. I have enough trouble communicating in the real world — “talking” on a forum compounds the issue

Once he was at a bar on Long Island where we were visiting just a few houses away and my son and his friend were sleeping in a tent in the back yard.
The other time we were building a sand sculpture of a reclining woman on Fire Island and a strange man said look at these beautifuol shells I collected. The handful of shells were ordinary and broken. It looked like he had randomly scooped them up. When I saw his picture I was convinced it was the same guy but I cant prove it.
