@Veronica, funny thing is that I found a treadle sewing machine a few years back & couldn't pass it up. I sewed on my Grandma's all the time & had fun. A little piece broke in it & I my Dad could have had a tool maker at work make one, but Mom decided to keep the metal base & got rid of the wood & machine

. I still have the base & turned it into a table that sits in my living room (still get ticked off when I think about it).
I had a man service the one I found & it works well. It has a different bobbin that I hadn't seen before & looks like a cone. He had a spare one & gave it too me so I have two. He said the reproductions don't work as well & to keep an eye out for them at antique stores. I haven't sewed on it yet, but I know my daughter wants it & she will use it.
It takes talent to stitch a quilt & patience, so I stick to the tied quilts. I use my doilies even if they are stained ... it gives them character.
