Grandma games are coming back

@Veronica, funny thing is that I found a treadle sewing machine a few years back & couldn't pass it up. I sewed on my Grandma's all the time & had fun. A little piece broke in it & I my Dad could have had a tool maker at work make one, but Mom decided to keep the metal base & got rid of the wood & machine 😠. I still have the base & turned it into a table that sits in my living room (still get ticked off when I think about it).

I had a man service the one I found & it works well. It has a different bobbin that I hadn't seen before & looks like a cone. He had a spare one & gave it too me so I have two. He said the reproductions don't work as well & to keep an eye out for them at antique stores. I haven't sewed on it yet, but I know my daughter wants it & she will use it.

It takes talent to stitch a quilt & patience, so I stick to the tied quilts. I use my doilies even if they are stained ... it gives them character.

Believe it or not, but I consider to buy an electrical sewing machine for myself and not for my wife. I want to learn sewing, since I would have needed it several times.

Btw. My wife and I knew (he died before almost a decade) a very nice and friendly man (active soldier) who was proud to have the best ironed trousers and other uniform parts. In the beginning he didn't allow his wife to iron his trousers, but after some time she succeeded.
He and his wife (both deceased) are among the people we remember with great fondness.

I have several bases on my patio that I use for patio tables. They have more character than new tables. One of them we used for a kitchen table in our first house. I bought them without their tops. I would never deconstruct. There were two in the last lot I sent to auction. One looked like Davenport Desk. People buy the drawers alone. I have some. I forget where they came from.

I agree. I do use my imperfect textiles. I have enough doilies to wallpaper a couple rooms. I like a little color so Ive painted a few.
Orange and black for Halloween. Red and Green for Christmas.
