The closest I ever got to flying was going up the side of a mountain in a gondola. Even then I didn't like it.
Lol I'd fly any day over going up in what I call a cable car or whatever or a ski lift as well. I hate those things. Too slow, too much obvious knowledge that you are suspended in air and slowly and looking way down and having a total view of such... I hate ferris wheels too, they just rock and dangle... Fast upside down rides twisting, fast rides, fully enclosed, I will take any day over a dangling swinging slower high ride.
To me there is nothing enjoyable about flying. First time of course you hope I think for a window seat so you can see the world from above. Ha ha. Sure on takeoff and maybe on landing or as you are lower... You find out pretty quickly in economy class for sure, window seat means you are in the farthest seat from the aisle and have to barely squeeze by and bother people when you need the bathroom, etc. My choice is aisle seat ever since my first flight if one gets a choice.
I don't like heights when exposed I guess... Or slow... But when so high and fast you basically can't see anything and are enclosed, that doesn't really bother me...
It's just a PIA. Tighter than a sardine in a can in economy for sure. And a very long day. But if one could only drive, one would never see some of the places one gets to see if they fly. Too far away. Not drivable, etc.
Out of many flights in my life, I'm sure many have had more, but I had one trip if not two a year for some years, not for awhile now though, I only had nasty turbulence once. I had delays though and one time we had to dump fuel in the air and turn around for a medical emergency on the plane and then sat on the tarmac for hours roasting to death.
My first flight ever when I WAS worried about flying as I never had flown the flight was delayed I think by something like 12 hours... We were told different stories about why... The first was a mechanical issue... Well like THAT didn't worry me never having flown before...
Anyhow, I just don't sweat it for years on end now though. I feel as if I am taking my life in my hands every time I get on the road around here more so.
Sorry, I can't sleep lately. So I'm rambling a bit in the dark of wee hours.
