I can't watch the video due to my lousy old computer. But I think this is a yearly tradition. I pardoned a turkey too and cooked a Field Roast (grain meat).

Perhaps because it is fun? Makes a delightful change from all the heavy stuff constantly on tap.

The turkey that I was associated with this year didn't get pardoned, but did get its choice of stuffing, with either bits of sausage or walnuts.
