How are you today?

Morning all!! Well I am present (mostly) and that is what counts....had a broken
nite of sleep, aggravated by arthur pain and itchy rash,:sneaky: I was up and down
several times...oh well...8am and still on first cuppa!!! Shoulders pain has
eased but still there, But I survived, jusst hate it when I get into these
crazy sleep patterns....ah well....going to forget it and move on!!!!:coffee::devilish:

welp, I have decided this not a funday....gave up trying o do anything at all,
including laundry...I'm in so much pain and stiffness, all over...damnitall!!!
a day of pain pills, pain patches, and heat / ice pads is in store....see ya!!!

 (n)o_O
I have a question.. I've seen that on the web numerous times, first thought it was a spelling error but maybe not.. what does 'welp' mean???

Not much happening here. Staying at home to receive a UPS package. I'll see if I can assemble a load of laundry. Maybe even mop the floors, but am iffy about that because my right wrist remains painful despite my diligence about mostly babying it and wearing a brace.

I just slathered the tender area with diclofenac topical gel to see if that helps. If not, it's probably time to reach out to my doctor.

Had about a 1.5 hour 3am sleep interruption but half a sleeping pill eventually knocked me back out, so overall I got at about 6.5 hours. Not fabulous, but better than I'd feared.

For the past few weeks I've been doing daily (well, almost 😒) online workouts through a free program offered by my Medicare Advantage provider (Kaiser). Other Medicare insurance providers also contract with this program.

Most classes last about 20 minutes and focus heavily on improving strength and balance. Emphasis on balance. I checked off a preference for standing classes, but there are also classes for seated or getting down on the floor positions.

The classes aren't particularly taxing and I've opted out of any involving weights, bands or other workout paraphernalia.

While my balance was already pretty good, I'm noticing marked improvement in my balance even when the instructors have me teetering with almost all of my weight on the side of one foot, then the other, or my heels, or while side-stepping, etc. (I stand in front of a counter, so something to grab onto if my balance starts to fail.)

I've never been a gym rat or formal exercise enthusiast, but am pushing myself to do these classes — which have turned out to be quite enjoyable— because I know how disastrous falls can be for seniors.

Here's a link. It's easy to check if your health care plan offers it. If not, yours may have something similar.

also youtube offers lots of exercise videos for free for seniors as well. i like to use the treadmill walking vidoes and just walk in place at their pace.

Agreed, YouTube offers a wealth of good, free information including balance and exercise videos. I've used it a lot.

YT is a watcher-beware site though. Lots of quacks there who suggest their aim is to be helpful but they're really touting vitamins, supplements, pay-to-play classes and exercise equipment.

Weary. Not tired like needing sleep, just bone weary. Tired of living by the clock...when to take these meds, when to take those meds, never-ending literal pain in my neck, can't get out of a chair without something to push up from, watching my feet when I walk so I don't trip over something. KWIM? Weary. Getting old, as I've said before, was no problem. Actually being old? That's a problem:confused:.

It's also not fun adapting my days to whatever the family is doing at any given moment. Insisting on my presence at whatever is the plan and what time to be ready, then changing it when I've rearranged what I was going to do...even if it was only a nap...drives me right around the bend.

And the overall situation in this country just adds to the weariness.
