Anyone use the Virtual Care?

I have United and get calls about using them all the time. I did one when in Virginia and
basically it was just as the nurse does when you visit the office. I was well so no need for
prescriptions or that type thing. So can't help you there.
Honestly my take on it was she was there to see my living conditions, if I was mobile and/or
suffering from depression. I haven't done another one since due to my pets getting hyper
over a stranger in the house.
If you speak with them you could ask them but I bet they refer it back to your Doctor if you
need anything.

The VA does something similar. I can choose to have some of my appointments online and definitely get my medication faster if I'm running out. I believe they do more but I didn't dig very far into it.

I have used the virtual care thru my past insurance.
It was simple and providers are ones licensed in your state.
They can write prescriptions and would be easy for them to refill a RX.
I feel these are good for follow up visits or simple things
it is hard to diagnose a new issue without actual access to patient.

I have Devoted Health, and they now have a virtual care that is available. This replaces your regular PCP. Before, they had doctors that were on call, and you could have a virtual appointment, but it did not replace your regular doctor, it was just for help when you could not get in to see your PCP and needed help.
The new Devoted Medical puts you in their physicians group, so you do not necessarily see the same doctor each time, although you may have that happen.
They are able to write prescriptions, and refer you to specialists as needed , and also send you for lab work, and pretty much everything that would happen if you went to a local doctor.
We were not happy with the doctor we had been seeing, and since neither of us get sick much, we mostly just go in for the yearly Medicare exam and lab work.
So, we decided to try the Devoted Medical, and it has worked out really great so far.
My appointment lasted well over a half hour on a video conference, and I felt like i was seeing a doctor who was actually interested in my health , and how to help me stay healthy.
I didn’t have to drive to some doctor’s office and wait for a long time, the appointment was done right from home. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints about having a virtual doctor, and would definitely recommend trying it out.
If it does not work, you can always go back to having a local doctor.

Sorry to be slow to understand this, but these are real doctors you interact with or are they AI?

It is real doctors, @officerripley . You talk with them like a FaceTime meeting, and they ask and answer questions just the same as if we were in an actual doctors office. The doctor we have been seeing for the last year or so didn’t really seem to take any interest in patents, just typed into his computer and sent us for our labs, and then we didn’t hear from him again for 6 months until our next appointment.
The Devoted doctors send me a message about my labs afterward, and then if they have a question about any of them, or any health concerns for me, they set up a virtual appointment follow-up.
For a while, we went to the UAB Clinic here, and we had an assigned doctor, but we still saw whatever doctor was on call anytime we went in, and if we call the Devoted Health doctor line, that is how it works, too. But for my appointments, I have talked with the same lady doctor both times.
I had virtual visits with United Healthcare and it was better for us. Now, they are not allowing them for our doctors, so we have to drive to their offices for visits. The virtual visits were the same with my doctor as in his office other than he does a quick exam. He filled prescriptions and so did my husband's doctors on our virtual visits.

Thanks, Happy, that sounds like a really good system; I wonder why it's not used more places, you'd think it would be helpful to both medical professionals and patients.
