Well I've spent an hour in that heat in the garden..just to get VIT D..lol... but I repotted the new little money plant.

Stupid idiot tho'..I bought 2 new pots.. one small ceramic and the other a larger plastic type .. and I spent an inordinate amount of time choosing them, and then at the last minute I saw one I preferred in the smaller size so I took that and swapped it for one I;d already chosen... completely missing the fact that it has has no drain hole.... *duh*....so I've had to repot into the larger plastic one instead...🫤

UK bakes on hottest May day and night in history

Today saw the hottest day in May on record as temperatures reached 35C at Heathrow and Kew Gardens in London, as the UK's week-long heatwave continues. 🌞 🥵

While thousands of Brits flocked to beaches and popular swimming spots over the long weekend, five people tragically lost their lives after getting into trouble in the water.

One man, in his 60s, suffered a 'cardiac arrest in the sea' after heroically trying to help two relatives at Tregirls Beach, near Padstow, at around 3.50pm yesterday.

The family members were brought to safety by members of the public, before the man was pronounced dead at the scene. :(

Good morning everyone. It is sunny with a breeze but rain is forecast this afternoon.

@hollydolly the weather sounds awful for you with the heat wave. It gets really hot and humid here. We have air conditioning in our house and car that helps. Our bodies became more used to this weather after many years of living here.

I really hope you get some relief and it gets cooler and more like what you are used to at this time of year.

Stay well everyone and have a nice day. :)

No senior social today. I got ready and drove to the community center. Sign on door said "Senior Social postponed due to internal renovations. See you in June."
I wish the organizer had let me know.
That’s frustrating. If they don’t have an email mailing list, perhaps you could suggest they start.

I belong to a group like that. The reminder for the meeting is sent out the night before and that’s not good enough for some of these people.

It's now almost 9pm...still light still. HOT.... however it's less hot than it was earlier in the garden.. and the birds are singing lullabies to each other....I've filled the bird bath again..

..here in the house, despite having all the blinds closed all day, the tower fans ( 2 ) on here in this office room... this is the temperature....

if you can't see it...it's 30.8 C... which is 88 deg F 🥵

@hollydolly I can totally commiserate with you. Its 78F here and it keeps spotty raining so its humid. I cant breathe when it gets too hot.
Especially if its humid. Im stubborn so Im still working outside. I work out there for an hour or so then I come inside then I go back out. Then I come inside then I go back out. Repeat. When it gets in the 80's Im done till fall.

I have hot water heat with a boiler and radiators. I do have a window unit in my bedroom and a PTAC in the keeping room.
But I want to sit in the living room so Im taking an inside break sitting here in front of the fan. I will be going back out in a minute.
I got 250 bags of mulch delivered earlier. It came on three pallets. I just finished one pallet. Once it gets too hot I will quit and finish in the fall.

I could have central AC if I wanted to get a second mortgage and put in a whole new HVAC system. When we worked it didnt bother us cause we had AC at work and in the bedroom where we slept. After I retired I installed the PTAC. Do you have those over there.
Here theyre a lot cheaper than mini splits.

I also have hot water central heating (gas controlled) with a boiler and radiators... I don't know what PTAC is

Western Europe is currently sweltering under a deadly, historically early heat wave driven by a stubborn "heat dome". The unseasonable weather system—fueled by human-caused climate change—has shattered longstanding May records, sending temperatures surging toward 35C in major hubs like London and 38C n parts of Spain and France.

United Kingdom: England recorded its hottest May day in history, hitting an unprecedented 35.1C at London's Kew Gardens. This obliterated the long-standing spring record of 32.8 that had stood since 1922 and 1944. Wales also registered new all-time May highs.

did you not see my post near the top of this page ?

@hollydolly , Another thought, not sure if these are available over there, but, we put one in our bus conversion. Later, we moved it to the bedroom in our Arkansas house. Just need to put a small vent to the outside along with a small drip hose hols. We had that drip the water on a plant. This was only 5000 btu, but it would cool a room nicely.

Also, being portable, you could take it with you should you move.

PTAC is self contained a/c units, like those found in motel rooms.
My system is gas too. Thats what I have. Its installed in the wall like at the motels.
It cools one side of my downstairs. Heres an image of one for Holly.

Ive used one of those. They do okay for a small room. I like my PTAC better cause its in the wall and it heats too.
I have a table in front of it so its hardly notiable.

Today Tuesday May 26 am home HTML coding from last week's stony beach photography close-up work while continuing to recover from over food binging on the holiday. That included getting a solid 8 hours sleep last night after getting my sleep very messed up and feeling lousy all yesterday. I see the Spurs Thunder NBA playoff game 5 is on NBC at 5:30pm today, that I'll watch.

Then tomorrow, Wednesday have major plans anchored by a late afternoon Golden Gate Park, outdoor Bandshell Concourse concert (aka Spreckels Temple of Music) by a Dead jam band, Mark Karan's Buds. Today is quite windy as a front passes to our north, while tomorrow shows at 5pm, partly sunny 58F, and a decreasing from 13mph wind. So will dress a bit warmly. I especially like how there are lots of level cement sidewalk and plaza surfaces in front of the concourse to freestyle dance at. If any of you local SF folks want to see mr dave pendulum shuffle dance, tomorrow will have plenty of it.

Golden Gate Bandshell - City of Awe

Although there has been a wide range of free outdoor concerts there since 2020, this will be my first time to watch one of these Illuminate LIVE series concerts of which there are supposedly about 100 concerts each year on a full range of genres. Although I visit The City occasionally, I am not familiar with most of it beyond just walking around in certain local zones.

So will drive south the 55 miles early afternoon between commutes, park free in park roadside near the music, and then explore the nearby large 55 acre, San Francisco Botanical Garden with just my Pixel 10 Pro sizing up subjects to possibly visit on another near date with my a6700, but with lowest breezes. Also, I could visit the adjacent California Academy of Sciences that I haven't visited in over a decade, that has spectacular exhibits, especially of fish, however that would cost $49 while roundtrip gasoline will already cost $24.
