Someone else posted feeling out of touch with not knowing who Bruno Mars was. Probably ditto for Coldplay. All I can tell you about Coldplay is that it's hip to absolutely hate them. I've never heard their music so I can't tell you why. But I feel it's good to keep up with modern music a bit. I mean just enriching your own listening pleasure. It's also good especially if you have older grandkids or great grandkids. No one wants to be that geezer that believes music has been insignificant since " Goodbye from Cream".

So here are a few videos to enhance your musical appreciation. If your grands are over fifteen they probably know them all.
Bruno Mars is one of those music people who is exceptional in that he's very talented and he crosses age lines in popularity.
This goes on your exercise playlist, try power walking the mall to this beat

This video has been around for awhile but Pink is good

Beyoncé is possibly one of the beautiful women EVAH

Jason Derulo is very talented, he goes old school in this new video...another good one is "Whatchu Say"

Finally Macklemore, when did people stop having last names? I see a pattern here. This song can make some of us cry.

That's the first time I've heard Jason Derulo. But I must say I'd break my thang if I tried to dance like that ;)
 
I know all the above have had all of their music at one time or another on my phone.. :) But this is mostly due to my loving dance music in general and a lot of that is pop music which tends more toward dancing and not just sitting listening mood music, though some of the artist do have ballads in their musical repertoires. .

Macklemore tends to tackle controversial subjects he and others have newer albums out at the moment.
 

Meh ... with the possible exception of Beyonce none of that stuff does anything for me. Music is still a very subjective thing. Thanks for trying to educate me, Fur, but I'm a bad student.
 
You know what, my best friend's musical play list is quite different than mine, not one of those artist would be found on her's for that matter on several of my closest friends list. As Phil says is all subjective. My list just happens to be less limited to one genre or period of music, except for a particular situation. And that would be when I want to:


 
Buddha bless you for being able to dance to that fast stuff. I was never a dancer (unless you count ballroom) - the entire Disco Era passed me by, leaving me unscathed.

But I can see how such highly-auto-tuned, sampled and repeated musical themes can be good for dancing. :D
 
I am keep myself pretty up to date in music. Most of the new stuff is crap imho. Yet I have contradicted myself on more than one occasion. I enjoy music by David Guetta its club music I believe.

LOL! Well, dancing has always been in my blood, I took modern dance in place of phys-ed in HS, Aced it as I would have failed the other, I was terrible in team sports, total klutz last to be picked for team sports, but, I could dance circles around the best of them, so Aced dance.

The music is quite lovely, I've liked these songs as well and similar, as I've stated, I don't have a limited sound that I enjoy, this is good stuff.

@AprilT- I wish I could dance, but I can't & so I only dance when I'm alone. My son ( the butthead) says I look like this tall gray bear when I dance :p

Now that's interesting stuff, but probably for the wrong reasons - I got so into both videos the music was reduced to a soundtrack in my head.

I especially liked the she-wolf and her awesome powers. :D

But, like you said, Guetta doesn't sing, and who is Sia? She's got a nice voice ...
 
It is subjective...I like music with a big beat. I mean there's much easy listening that's like nails on a chalkboard for me...ditto for folks who feel the need to show off their car's sound system. Hey I'm happy that your ride has nuclear powered speakers...but that doesn't mean I need my car to vibrate while I'm stuck in traffic with you. Eeesh, if they were deafening me with Adele it would be even worse.

Sia gets around, she's worked with some of everyone in the business in every genre.

Anyone remember this one. I'll be back with some Sia for you Phil, you might not like it though. LOL!
