"Sink Loaf", For The Cat People

I was up painting my face and hubby was in the shower. In comes Mr. Foote, gray and white and terrier sized. So what happens when thirty plus pounds of kitty walks on the sink? Everything is going to fall with one tail swish. He finally settled down in the sink. Paws curled around his chest...just basking in the warmth of the steam. Hubby came out and looked at him...perfect expression "Sink Loaf"...

I was wondering what a "sink loaf" was - and yes, it's a perfect expression - I'll have to remember that one, along with the "drop bears" ...

hehe too cute.. My 24 lb cat is a tub loaf lol. I have to leave the water to drip so he can get his daily slurp from the bathtub faucet.. I love cats..

Love your hubby's expression Fur! :D My boy doesn't hang out in the sink, but he likes to play with the water sometimes when I fill up the pet's water bowls. Last time he was in a sink was for a bath, which I learned I had to put on layers of clothes in order not to turn to chop meat. Here's a cute pic I found online of cats in a sink.

Did any of you folks ever see this video? It is so cute, I promise you will love it! Takes the term tub-loaf to the next level I think.

The one thing I did notice on rewatching it was how dreadfully thin the little cat is. I hope it's because he's an active 'teen' kitty and that he's not skinny because they don't feed him.

Sorry Debby, but that video saddens me. I don't know about that cat's environment there, but it looks sickly and undernourished to me. :(

Yeah, the first time I ever saw it I was just enthralled by the sight of a little cat that seemed to be enjoying the bath, but like I said in my last post, I only now noticed how thin he was. Let's hope that he was just rescued or was simply long and lean because he was still young. Maybe part of the problem is that we've become used to seeing overweight pets too. That's a possibility.

I was watching The Nature of Things yesterday and they were talking about obesegens (chemicals in our environment that have changed our DNA pre-birth), that have caused us to become fat even when we have the right activity levels and lifestyle. During the course of the program it mentioned that even the animals that live in proximity to us have gotten fatter right along with humans. They are also exposed to those same chemicals and particularly if they are pets. So as this looks like it was filmed in China(?), poorer people would be less likely I would think, to have the same exposure levels perhaps because they eat a more 'natural' diet and live a less toxic life. Veggies from the garden, animals from the farm yard (instead of in factory farms where animal food is exposed to those chemicals), less manufactured stuff like flame retardants in furniture, etc.... But you have to admit, it's pretty unusual to see a cat that actually enjoys being immersed in water.

It is a cute video. I think it can depend on the cat sometimes. We have a extra large dish that the cats nosh on all day and all night. Boo is one of the oldest cats. She can't weigh 5 pounds but she's healthy. Levon the mighty hunter is about 7lbs. Maybe being sleek gets him up trees easier. Mr. Foote and Ninja are the big boys. Foote is about 30lbs...for a cat that is ginourmous. He's not fat at all, beautifully proportioned but huge. The funny thing? Boo is his Mom.

Hey fureverywhere, is it possible that your big boy is part Maine Coone cat? I was looking at some photos of that breed a few days ago and it seemed like whenever the owners held their pussycats up you could hardly see the person! That is a huge breed so is it possible Mama Boo had an illicit affair with one of those?
