What is one weird/quirky thing about you?
I have a lot of weird things, but this is one..


I don't know how many of you watched the movie Signs with Mel Gibson and Joaqin Phoenix, but there is a little girl in the movie who has a quirk of leaving rooms littered with half-finished glasses of water and later shows that quirk of hers as instrumental in saving their lives.


Something similar happened to me. My weird quirk ended up saving my life. I have to have a fan on at all times. There can be snow on the ground & the house cold & I will still have a fan on. The morning my house burned down I awoke early to get a glass of water. I was going to go back to bed, but I noticed the ceiling fan quite suddenly went off. Because I can't stand not to have the fan on I got up to go check the breakers in the garage. Had the fan not been my quirk I would have just let it go and gone back to sleep. I didn't though, I opened the garage door to discover my entire garage was engulfed in flames and the fire had gone into the roof. There was such a very short amount of time between that discovery and my managing to escape out the door to the back yard, that had I gone back to bed at all..I would have roasted alive. That fan quirk of mine actually saved my life.
 

Cool story. Sorry about your house, though.

I don't think any of my quirks would ultimately save lives. One of them is building little wooden boxes. They could be used to save ashes. So, indirectly and after-the-fact....
 

Glad you lived to tell your tale BlunderWoman. My quirky thing, I have a few but will just tell you the potato chip one. If I have a bag of chips I sift through and must have all the folded over ones first, I love the crunch.

You and my nephew could share a bag. He won't eat the folded ones.

I'm definitely quirky. One of my quirks is that I like things to come out even. I'm not at the point where they HAVE to come out even, but I LIKE them to. For instance, food: If I have two eggs, two pieces of bacon and one slice of toast, I'll cut the eggs in two, each piece of bacon in two and the toast in quarters. That way, I can have a piece of egg, a piece of bacon and a piece of toast together. Hey, I told you I was quirky. Not obsessive (at least not yet), but quirky. Yep, quirky.
 
I like to use a straw for my drinks, coffee, tea, juice, etc. I guess that's a quirk. But not wine, I drink wine from a wineglass in the usual way.
 
For the longest time, I preferred using plastic spoons for my coffee, tea and soup. For one thing, they don't get hot like metal spoons. Then, my daughter started throwing them out - said they were carcinogenic.

Oh, YOU too? I thought I was the only one. My plate looks like a surgeon had been at it.

See I know what you're saying. I'm more comfortable with all things "masculine" whatever the heck that means. I mean I have my mushy compassionate side...but I keep her hiding if I can. My hubby has always been the emotional one. I'd rather go out and fix the truck...Meh, feelings? Dear Gawd... In Orange I am Lorna with Poussey stuck inside, possibly Big Boo.
 
I count everything. When I have a dozen eggs and I put them in the egg container of my refrigerator I count each one as I put them in. When I go up the stairs in my house I count the steps. Also when I want a piece of candy,like gum drops or jelly beans I have to take two..
 
I have to eat M&Ms by color. All the yellow ones first, then the brown ones, .... ending up with all red or blue. It makes a great excuse to eat more than you should.
