Knife attack UK/London, 1 Killed 5 Injured

With all the publicity of attacks like these and other attacks that can be labelled to terrorism, it is not surprising that there are copycat attacks by disturbed individuals. Solo attackers are likely to be less sane than groups carrying out a well planned and targeted attack.

A tragedy for those affected, but in a normal scenario would only have been of interest locally.

Random knife attacks happen in the UK even more often than random gun attacks do in the US.

One man, armed with a knife, attacked six people at random. One died of her wound and the rest received treatment and survived. The assailant ran off and was chased on foot by police armed only with non lethal equipment. He was brought down by a taser when he ignored shouts to stop. He is in custody and being assessed for mental health issues.

Does this sound like America?

People that do this sort of thing have a problem with anger impulse control and many are not necessarily mentally ill according to statistics.

The dead woman was named by the Metropolitan police on Thursday night as Darlene Horton, 64. She was the wife of a university professor from Florida who was reportedly hours away from flying home. Florida State University said psychology scholar Richard Wagner was teaching summer classes in London, and his wife had accompanied him to the capital. USA Today said the couple had planned to return to Tallahassee on Thursday.
