I personally do not know any Canadians and I have always assumed that they were really no different than Americans.

From reading responses to postings as well as posts originated by Canucks I have concluded that there is a big difference.

Brits on the other hand seem to be fairly similar.

I sincerely hope this post is not taken as bigoted, insensitive or in anyway prejudicial.

Difficult to answer, Lon, without you being more specific. I do find it a bit odd that you would expect denizens of another country not to have their own distinctions. We are not America lite. Lol.
 
Lon, an odd thread title, ....

I would answer your question by saying that it seems like you haven't been exposed to many other cultures, and perhaps you might benefit by some travel, starting with a visit to the land of the maple leaf, i.e. Canada, where you will meet many Canadians.
 

Different how? Canadians walk upright, breathe and speak English. Only two differences I can think of are that they ALL have access to health care and in most regions of their country, wear more clothes from September until June.

How did you know? It is a well kept secret that come June, most Canucks eschew clothes whenever possible, mushing down main street completely nekkid, munching poutine, drinking our double/doubles. Lol.
 
Yessireee, double double, toil and trouble --- watch out the Canajuns are on the march, eating timbits and drinking maple syrup -- will you be ready? We might be mistaken for New Englanders in the winter, wearing down jackets and ski masks, but we are distinct in that we can curse and swear in both French and English -- Tabarnac!

Explain different. It would be hard for me to conclude anything if I didn't know any Canadians "personally". Taking a minute cross section of a population and drawing any kind of conclusions IMO is absurd. We're all a bit different here in the states, why wouldn't that be the same in Canada?
 
Lon, now I'm curious why you think Brits are the same as Americans. As an American living in the UK I find there are many differences.
 
You are right of course. It just seems that Brit & Canadians are more liberal than American Liberals, but Brit and American Conservatives are pretty similar.

Canadians consider Liberals to be centrist, by our standards Obama and Hillary are liberals, whereas Bernie is a soft Socialist. Our conservatives tend to be less so than American Conservatives. For the first time, Canadianyr Conservatives have endorsed same sex marriage, that was a surprise. This is mostly likely due to the changing of the old guard, as younger peeps rise up through the ranks of the party.
