San Antonio Police Officer Shot In The Head & Killed While Writing A Ticket

How sad. The man just doing his job, but see, violence often begets violence. It's not right--they are out there protecting us all, risking their own lives. Well, that car didn't just randomly pull up to the squad car and shoot--he most likely was summoned. The vast majority of police are good men and women wanting only to go home to their families after their shift.

I agree that the shooter was probably summoned using a mobile phone.
Police should always patrol in pairs these days for their own safety.

And yet the Washington Post has an running list of all the "victims" of police shootings. We live in strange times.

Rest in peace for that fallen officer, my sympathy to his family, this should never have happened. I am against any senseless killings, either of citizens by police officers or police officers by civilians.

I agree with Carla, and have said it here many times, the majority of the police force are good men and women doing the jobs they are paid to do and are passionate about protecting and serving the public.

The small percentage of bad cops have come into the limelight lately thanks to video exposure, and those corrupt officers leave a grey cloud over the entire force, all the families of those whose lives they took senselessly, are still mourning their losses. Many reputable officers who have served for many years, want to put a stop to the actions of those bad cops who abuse their power. We're getting there, slowly but surely. Denying that there was a problem is not an option anymore.

I think the killer was hunting. Maybe not a specific individual but it was close to a police station so it could be interpreted as sending a message. Unless the killer knew that was a high traffic stop area they very well could've been summoned.

It was an cowardly assassination as far as I am concerned no matter the motive.

SeaBreeze - The subject is not "bad cops" it's a "bad guy" who killed a cop. It's all that constant chatter about "bad cops" that stirs the pot and sends whackos on the edge out with a gun.

And let's not forget the approval the Black Lives Matter people have gotten from the left. "What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want then? Now". And then the "pigs in a blanket" chant. This "war on cops" we see growing in America is a direct result of the acceptance of such behavior.

I agree. Whether or not there are bad cops (there are bad guys in every profession), it does not justify the execution of cops on the street by those who feel entitled to do so, any more than it would justify going out and shooting a stockbroker because you are pissed off at Wall Street.

Wasn't this the case where they caught the guy who did it and he said he lashed out because he was angry at 'the system' for keeping him from his child? Or was that the other policeman? Anyway, whichever it was, can you imagine? And by his own actions (which he admitted to) he guaranteed that the system will keep him from his kid!
