My late Mama made an enchilada casserole for our family when I was a youngster. It was her own recipe, and she won an award for it from our local newspaper. I found her handwritten recipe while cleaning out her house after she passed away, but can't bring myself to try to recreate it. I'm sure my version wouldn't measure up to my memories.

Mom use to make me milk toast. I don't even remember how to make it, although it doesn't sound to difficult.

Funny how one person's pleasure can be another person's pain, LOL!!!

When I was sick milk toast was supposed to make me better, I could never eat it due to the soggy texture and that always made them think I was so sick I couldn't eat! The truth was I just couldn't eat that, LOL!!!

Beans and franks was a standard day before payday or blizzard meal when I was a kid.

I have some Lit'l Smokies in the freezer I just need to pick up a can of Campbell's pork and beans.

It's a sandwich made with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff

With a glass of ice cold milk, perfection...

Pixie Sticks-Little paper straws of fruit flavored sugar. As a kid the only time they were allowed was at Halloween. I could make one last weeks. But they were literally fruit flavored sugar. You can almost feel your teeth exploding.

I was forced ( ;) ) to eat regular plain old meat and potatoes type food most of the time. All of it is still around, if you like to cook. Can't think of a thing, really. Odd.

Sheep's brains. We can't buy them legally any more and with the increase of scrapie (one of the transmissible spongiform encephalopathies) although they can be bought 'under the counter' if you know who and where I wouldn't fancy them now but back in the day they were a real treat on hot buttered toast in front of an open fire on a cold Winters night.
