Winter Carnival Help !!!

I have volunteered this year for our "Massey Winter Carnival" to organise a Snow Sculpture contest.. Catagories are:

Snow sculpture .........
Snowman .................
Snow Fort .................

I was wondering if anyone here has had the experience of doing this before or if anyone can sort of guide me and give me some advice on judging the different catagories..

On winter I made 2 huge snow dinosaurs and them sprayed food coloring on them, made one blue and one green, the local paper came and took pictures of them.

Oh sorry, a brief trip down Memory Lane.

Congrats Steve and have fun being a judge, I have no other advice.
 
Not good with winter sports at all - sorry, Steve.

If it were a Bikini Contest or a Best Tan Competition I could perhaps offer some useful advice, but Snow Forts and Snowmen?

BBBbbbrbrrrrrrrr. Nope. :(

I will try to make something out of it by myself .....

I was going to have a category of .........
Snow fort in a mini bikini, but I don't think it will be very popular......
There again, who knows....

I was mainly concerned about the judges' question sheet.....

Snow Sculpture Competition Judging Criteria:

Sculptures will be judged based on creativity, appearance, use of theme and support for NMU. Profane or obscene sculptures are not permitted and will be disqualified and destroyed.

Creativity (0-10 points)
Does the final product convey an original idea?
Does the final product utilize materials effectively/creatively?

Use of Theme/Support of NMU (0-10 points)
Does the organization incorporate the WinterFest theme in a way that makes sense?
Does the sculpture support NMU?

Detail/Appearance (0-10 points)
Is the final product neat?
Does the final product include details that help make it more appealing?

Effort (0-10 points)

Does there appear to be a considerate amount of time put into building the sculpture?
How complex is the sculpture?

Should a 10 year old try to bribe me, I accept the bribe.... LOL

I know I put my foot in it by taking on this project, but I am on the "Parks and Recreation" council in our village and felt it was time to do something for our village.. This seemed like the most desireable project of all.......

PHIL: I insist on knowing.....is "snerdly" really a word? I know how bright you are and you can make these words up thinking we won't know the difference! Even if it is, try to use prettier words in your posts if you don't mind! :lofl:

Katy, Snerdly is the proper Christian name of one of my small furry mammal friends, and right now he's quite upset that you laughed at his name!

Snerdly is also the name of Rush Limbaugh's engineer and producer - he's the only other person I've ever known to have that name. :D

I am so sorry! I sincerely apologize to Snerdly and will you please give him a lil hug for the insult?

At the risk of starting a political disagreement, I will not comment on the man whose name you mentioned in your 2nd paragraph. I can't bear to type his name. But I will say if I were a small furry mammal who may be adopted by you, I would have to choose my own name.:highly_amused:
