It's more likely to be someone protesting against ACL's opposition to SSM. Also, it's caused minimal impact as it happened in the early hours of the morning when the building was unoccupied. Not really the typical ISIS attack.

A big leap to the conclusion that the driver was a radicalised Muslim.
I'll wait a while for a bit more info.
 
Track record where?

Cars crashing into front bedrooms are quite common over here and ram raids on shop fronts are not unheard of either. The former are a combination of alcohol and negligent driving, the latter are purely criminal attempts to grab an ATM.

There was once a political protest where someone attempted to ram raid parliament house in Canberra but car bombs are most unusual. The ACL and the Taliban have a lot of ideas in common on the subject of sexuality and it remains to be seen whether the driver has anything at all to do with radical Islam. Until more is known, I remain agnostic on this incident.

If I were a radical Islamist I would wait until NYE celebrations when multiple soft targets are available.
Or Australia Day. Perhaps ANZAC Day.

Driving a van at an empty building at 5.00 am would not be my first thought.

If this occurred at 5AM, I would suspect alcohol, or drugs being involved....or the driver had a heart attack. The van exploding would not be unusual, as many severe traffic accidents result in the vehicle catching fire, and if that fire reaches the gas tank...BANG!

I've just heard on the radio that it was 9 o'clock at night, not 5 am.

It is probably an attack, but the motive is most likely political rather than religious.
This group, like so many others, has been subject to death threats.
