Eight men own half of the world's wealth

True, some people get a much better start in life than others but opportunities are there for anyone who will take advantage of them.

In a free economy there is no way to avoid that. Two brothers "leave the nest" at the same time. Harry works hard and succeeds. He eventually starts a company providing employment for 500 people. Herbie, on the other hand, gets a decent job and enjoys the good life spending it as fast as he gets it. They each have sons. When the time is right, Harry helps his son and he gets a good start in business. He may give him some money or a job in the company. But Herbie's son is on his own.

The above describes what some see as inequality. There is only one answer to that - government control of the economy, allocating money out as it sees fit. But, call such a person a Marxist and they get their panties in a wad - but they can never come up with an alternative. Oh sure, some try to sneak up on their Marxist economy with, "Oh no. Everybody keeps their own money. We'll just balance things off with taxation". Of course they also want to regulate the daylights out of businesses so that while they are theoretically free market entities, their freedom is severely limited.

This is assuming the all people were born with the same capabilities and the same opportunities.. This is simply not true. Not everyone has the ability.. to succeed equally.. No one is claiming that people should not succeed and make money due to their hard work and intelligence.. BUT there should NOT be vast numbers of people that can barely survive and feed their families.. or pay their bills. It has nothing to do with laziness.. some are working at several minimum wage jobs.

Not to mention the existence of White Privilege.. These are the people that were born on third base, and have convinced themselves they hit a triple.

White privilege (or white skin privilege) is a term for societal privileges that benefit white people in Western countries beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. According to McIntosh and Lee, whites in a society considered culturally a part of the Western World enjoy advantages that non-whites do not experience.

Alot of wealth estimates include stock, companies they own etc. Not as liquid or as much money in the bank people think. Keep in mind over the last 10-15 there have been numerous mega mergers, a lot of outsourcing and stock manipulations. There are some anti trust issues which seem to have been ignored as well. But in the end the monetary numbers associated with them make the point.

QS - true, not all are born with the same capabilities and these will not succeed the same as others. Other factors include willingness to work hard, family influence and so much more beyond the racism you interject.

But, "vast numbers"? How many should be poor? How do you quantify the natural things mentioned above to come up with a valid number. And then, what about the person raised in a home without a work ethic and appreciation of learning - should that person be protected from failure? How?

Now to your racism. Are all whites born on third base and convince themselves they hit a triple??
