Figs

I used to like figs until I found out there's a dead wasp (or parts of one) in the center of every fruit. Apparently the wasp attempts to pollinate the fig blossoms and get trapped in the sticky secretions. Sometimes it can free itself, but leaves some parts in the resin. If it can't get away it will die. Whatever the case, the blossom has be pollinated and the growing fruit surrounds the dead wasp or whatever part(s) it left there.

I love figs.i'm sure if we really knew what is in the food we eat insect wise figs would be the least of our worries. I once saw photos of insect parts baked right into corn flakes and it was completely ok with the USDA because it was below the limit of what they allowed in the flakes.

The apartment complex where I now live and the surrounding offices and shops is just four blocks from the home that I owned for 35 years. All of this area when I was in my 40's was FIG TREES. Mostly the BLACK MISSION variety. I ran 70 Miles a week when I was in my 40's and part of my running route was through the Fig groves. I can still feel the warm sandy soil on my feet when taking off my running shoes and I can still taste the sweet sticky figs that I would eat passing through the grove. Ah----memories!!

I want a teeny miniature pig named Pig Newton! Loll.

**typing with mouth watering**.......all I can picture is teeny little pork chops, teeny little hams and teeny little succulent pork loins.

Disclaimer for our vegetarian, PETA and tenny little pig owner forum members........"No tenny miniature pigs named Pig Newton were actually harmed during this post".

I would eat anything today(if I were allowed)....starvation prep for a procedure tomorrow.

I wouldn't care about the wasp parts in figs, when I was little my dad bought be some chocolate covered ants....they weren't too bad!
