...and I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, "Guns save lives." That's like having sex for virginity.

From reading the article she didn't pull the gun because of the notebook, but rather because two women were attacking her daughter. Depending on how severe that attack was on her daughter this might have been justified. Probably not, but the instinct for a parent to protect their child is a pretty strong one.

The way it was reported here on the local news last night is that she did in fact feel that her daughter was being attacked and she reacted the same way a mother bear would to protect her cub. Also she appears to have been trained on how to use a handgun, if you look closely at the picture she does not yet actually have her finger on the trigger but on the slide / side of the handgun.....IMO what she did was justified.bear.jpg

In that case good for her. I don't know what I would do if my daughter was attacked two on one, but I definitely wouldn't stand by. Since I don't carry a gun when I go to Walmart I probably would have just clocked one of them to even up the odds.

Clearly I didn't read the article before I posted. I'm still not sure I would have pulled a gun in a crowded area like Wal-Mart unless the other side were doing something worse than hair pulling. It just seems like a bit of an over reaction to me. My daddy taught me that you NEVER pull a gun on someone or aim one at someone unless you are ready and willing to use it on them.

Never pull a gun if you're not going to use it....otherwise you're just going to piss someone off. They will take it from you and beat you over the head with it. And if you use it, you'll probably go to prison. Catch 22.

I assumed that the daughter who was referenced was a small child. Instead it's a 20-year-old. Wouldn't a 20-year-old be able to defend herself without her mother pulling a gun? I mean, nobody was attacking her with a knife or beating the tar out of her.

Yeah, mom WAY overreacted. If I were that Wal-Mart, I'd ban all the participants. All you'd need is for someone on the other side (or just some bystander as crazy than mom) to pull a gun and you could have had a free-for-all. Just because you have a CC permit doesn't mean you get to use the gun to solve all your disagreements.

Why are posters here defending the indefensible? The woman pointed a gun! Just think of the consequences had she fired! So the stupid dangerous woman pulled a gun, because her stupid greedy daughter, had her hair pulled by another stupid greedy woman, over a notebook!?
Plus the whole thing was witnessed by children!! Ye Gods are you all mad?! And this all happening in the home of the free and the land of the brave.

It doesn't matter what they were or weren't fighting over... The idiot pulled out and aimed a gun at another shopper! She is obviously unstable and has temper issues.. Problem is, how many more of these idiots are walking about with concealed weapons, just one "notebook" away from killing someone?

My point exactly! A shot could have ricochet into a child. My blood is still boiling. So this is Mr Trumps USA?
