That's correct. I state my views, whether it be about politics, home life, vocation, philosophy, education, etc from one who has been a Southern Baptist for 68 years. I do not bring religion into a discussion unless someone makes a statement based upon his/her belief, or lack of, which has no basis from science or history that they purport to be true when it is not backed up. So I have no choice but to challenge it when there is no proof, and I don't apologize for that.
I must say, however, that the Bible has not been "proven" true in the classical sense, that is, to be established with verifiable proof, as in a science lab. Yet, likewise, neither has atheism been proven true. If you look at my previous posts, you will find that I have been respectful of other's viewpoints and I have not used sarcasm or any find of vitriolic language when disputing someone.
I think we, as seniors who are mature, older, seasoned, experienced in various endeavors, have no reason to quarrel. We have lived long enough, seen enough to be truthful and honest, with nothing to prove at this stage of life. So my view is that we leave things as they are, both about politics and religion. As I said earlier, we can learn a lot from one another and make some friends along the way. I am not trying to sound "holier than thou". (that is a phrase I hate, and never use -- simply because it is untrue on any level -- we are all sinners in need of redemption-- no human is in any way holy)
Anyway, that is how I feel.
